Hey Terra, topic unrelated. Have you found those fender braces make a difference?

Dunno yet, the car is still up on stands. Now I'm looking at bigger (330mm) front rotors to fill the 17" Enkei rims I have planned (I have to swap out the rotors anyway to fit the super strut suspension) and Wilwood rear brakes too.

This car is going to be seriously fast at stopping.

Slots shouldn't be too much of an issue if not too deep, but I thought the factory ones are in the casting and would have a better structure.

I hope the mounting position of the caliper is just a dummy fit. My concern is how the caliper is sitting over the rotor. Looks like without modding the pads, once worn in you'll end up with a lip running over the outer edge of the rotor and risk lockups and disengagement issues. The lower pistons will put the clamp force on a smaller area of the pad on a wider radius which is moving at a faster speed, which will skew the pad and make that lip chew on the edge of the rotor, making random lockups possible.

I think modding the pad is acceptable, but it's a bit of a bandaid solution. Brake failure or malfunction is the worst thing to happen on a car that you expect to have brakes better than stock, as you will hold off breaking deeper into the corner and when you get a lockup you may be in strife.

That misalignment is just the camera angle. This setup has been track proven on a 500Hp turbo Levin and apparently works quite well.

this one got me a beauty on monday night. was running in a motor i had just built for someone on a windy road that i know quite well. he has the same 4pot upgrade as my gold cressida (not driven in ages) and my daily has a 2pot upgrade -much better than stock but not as good as 4. first corner i came on the brakes hard, smiled and commented how nice it was to have REAL brakes again.

third corner i came in HOT, braking late and hard, at speed..... only this time nothing happened!!!!! scared the bejesus out of me!!!!!
i love the confidence of big brakes, and drive much harder as a result. i no longer trust his car lol and will never drive it that hard again.
There is no substitute for PUBIC inches

    Never late in an x8

Ah, just a 2D illusion I thought you would have been on top of it.

    Hello
BHSS at Capalaba do brake rotor slotting. They also do disc rotors and aliminium hats to suit for a pretty good price. I bought 355x 32 mm Rotors for $165 each.
