I would guess your engine is rooted... (your big end bearings are probably worn)
attatch a master oil guage (IE a mechanical oil guage) so you can be sure..

serious?, that pretty annoying, ive just spent 3500 on the engine in the last 6 months get heaps of stuff replaced, anyone got any idea of how much it would cost to fix?
tried another oil pressure switch?..
not yet but i was hoping it is only an oil pressure switch, ill try that tomorrow thanks for input guys, i really appreciate it
+1 for mechanical guage, it will eliminate switch/wiring/light issues
what was the 3.5gorillas spent on exactly? any bottom end work? if the light tells the truth then the bearings are probably knackered.
There is no substitute for PUBIC inches
Never late in an x8
if the bearings are stuffed, would my car be running like crap?, cause at the moment its running beautifully
any noise from the motor?

nar no strange noises to report, im getting it towed to my mechanic tomorrow just to be safe, i dont want to end up with a screwed engine and he's going to have a look at it for me, hopefully its just a oil pressure sensor, if it is the bearings are screwed does anybody have any idea as to how much it will cost to fix?,
thanks so much for help guys
The cost really depends on what damage has been done. Need to inspect before working out cost.
What the service history like?
Has the oil light started to come one since the pump was replaced?
A couple of things to check would be to check if the pick up is blocked and its sealing properly and not sucking air.
I think there is a valve behind the oil filter but can't be too sure. If there is check that it is not stuck shut/open that will cause oil pressure problems.
Check the clearance in the oil pump and the valve in the housing.
it turns out the it was a faulty oil pressure switch, so i got it all fixed up, and hopefully its all good now.
thanks for all the help
