    Default 5sfe question.

Hey everyone, just wondering if a 5sfe motor out of camry will fit into my celica?
I was told it would not fit due to a diffrent sump, can i just put my celica sump on for it to fit? Thanks in advance

i'll have a look at the missus camry today when i get home. i highly doubt that it's different.

there are some differences with the dizzy and celica depending on what year etc. but they're all swapable.

hey thanks for the quick reply's, the celica is a 92 model which came out with the 5sfe. The unhelpfull gentleman at the wreckers said the engine wouldn't fit, but also said he had a different engine that would fit but it was anothr 500 for it...

The Camry was equipped with Balance Shafts under the crankshaft - Celica wasn't.

But that wouldnt stop a transplant, but I could be wrong.

Yeh the wreckers just wants to make more money off you. Had a look under the missus camry and while the exhaust goes under the sump in a different area theres no difference to any other 5S/early 3s sump

how is there balance shafts in the sump of 5sfe's? Ive never seen inside one but are they run off a seperate chain or a gear or something?

The wreckers might of being trying to sell you a 3sge.. But as far as i was aware the sumps are interchangeable between 5s and 3s jus the 5s is a taller block..

    Dont quote me tho

Balance shafts are bolted to the bottom of the block and there is a large gear on the Crankshaft that meshes with it.
Runs at twice Crankshaft speed and if it not shimmed properly can either Rattle (loose) or whine ( tight).
When properly shimmed, it whines on warm up.

    sumps are interchangeable between 3SFE, 3SGE, 3SGTE and 5SFE.

I am not sure about this balance shaft thing, i've never seen any in any 5S ive looked at.

    You can if you like.

It has new bearings and rings in it and has been honed, the top of the block has been decked, although it will be quite expensive to ship.

Shoot me a PM of how much you think its worth to you.

except the gen3 on 3s sumps. not without fitting the gen3 oil pump and drilling and tapping some holes.
