Default re-building my VVTi 1jz, anything i shold do while it is apart?

so i'm at about the stage where i'll be chasing parts for my 1jz re-build. going 1mm oversize as the bores are pretty scored due to lack of care from the previous owner....

so other than pistons, rings, bearings and assorted gaskets. is there anything else i should do while it is apart?

cheers man, was def going to do the stem seals as it was a issue on the older ones i'm lead to believe? and yeah the standard toyota gaskets were the best value as well.

any reason to change the balancer?

also how good are the factory valve springs? as it will prob be revved to 8+k in my drift/circuit car.
