    You can get an adapter plate for the T50 bellhousing to allow a steelcase W50 to bolt right up, forget where but approx $100. You will also need clutch, tailshaft and I think a Ta22 auto X-member. Failing that a 3t-gte W55 is direct fitment to engine but will have same tailshaft/xmemberr issues as W50.

    Had another look into this to see if my memory was failing me and yea... damn bieffects of growing old and sensible

    Checked several of those "Toyota axel code explained" sites and they seem to agree on:

    C=6.25" S=6.38" D=6.62" T=6.7"

    Then checked the toyodiy epc for carina ta 10-12-14 (dont have for celica older than ta40) and looks like T and D are very similar

    while C and D are 8 bolt.

    lilcrash, are you sure your diff is a D?

    From my experience d series and t series diff centres are almost the same a d series will bolt into a t series housing and the axle splines are the same. I have never tried to bolt a t series into a d series housing but it should fit as the diffs are almost the same size about 2mm difference in crown wheel size. Even though the axle splines are the same the d series has skinnier axles and i would assume thats where the smaller wheel bearings come in. The flange on the d series is a rectangular pattern and the t series is square I just swapped the flange on the front of the diff around but alternatively you could also swap the flange on the tail shaft by taking the uni apart. Hope this helps, all of this info is from my own experience so some of it may not be exact with regards to when the change over points are for the axles and bearings.

    Cheers
    Dave
