Just get the laptop adaptor by itself ($90)

And download the software for free

I bought my laptop adapter off eBay for ~$80 from memory.
Still a complete rip off for what is some plastic, two plugs and one IC.

Watch eBay for a cheap hand-controller. It is worth having, probably more so than the laptop adapter.

I have an Innovate Motorsports LC-1.
    They are quite popular.
If you get one, spend the extra on the XD16 gauge to go with it, and not one of the analog dial gauge or cheap digital displays. The non XD16 gauges have accuracy issues.

That's just silly, surely spending $600 to upgrade to the Microtech AFR logging is a better idea

I LLF when I saw that as an option for these things. Pretty quickly end up spending $2k.

What the ????? are you talking about Duk?

    LC-1 + XD16 will be about $300.

Microtech's logging ability is an absolute joke.
So much so that i wrote my own Microtech logging software which also takes data from an LC1.

Please note the gratuitous use of smilies in an attempt to provide tongue in cheek-ness.

    HI All,

I know this is an old thread, and I may start a new one to suit.

Just wanted to pick your brain a little. I have purchased and installed the LC-1 and XD-16 to the letter of the guides supplied, and just have one issue. How do I hook up the wideband to the microtech??? And will the LT10-s work with the LC-1, without sending it back to Microtech? Have read conflicting posts...

    Cheers,

    Ryan

Microtech's come standard with a 'narrowband' input. (unless requested otherwise at ordering)
If you want to use a 'wideband input' you'll need to send it back to be reprogrammed. You'll still need to use the wideband controller.
I've no idea what the difference between the two is though.
But most wideband controllers have a narrow band output, which you should be able to wire straight into the Microtech.

    Thanks Cruzida,

Yeah thats what I was thinking, it has a "simulated" narrowband output, which I figured would work with the narrowband input of the lt10s if I didnt want to send the unit back and wait X amount of weeks.

At the very least I can use the LC-1 and the XD-16 gauge output to fine tune the engine as that will be using the wideband signal, and the lt10s can just run off the simulated narrowband output as best it can...

Anyway I have posted on the microtech forum, I will also do the same on Innovate Motorsport site and see if I have any luck there.

    Thanks again

It does, and its the way i had mine setup. It wont be perfectly accurate though.
Not that its much use though as the MT doesnt use the reading for any fuel/timing adjustments.
The only time it is useful is when using the MT laptop software for logging and even then its not that useful as the MT's logging software abilities are quite crap.

Hence why mine is not connected to the MT.
I just use the LX1 digital display.

Thanks MWP, Good to know that will work. Will hook it up and take it for a test drive tonight.

So if Microtech don't use the 02 sensor for reference - the only value of sending your ecu back to them for an "upgrade" is so you get the wideband afr reading in your handset/laptop display? What a joke

So Cruzida, do you have 2 oxygen sensors? or just no 02 sensor hooked up the Microtech, and just the wideband going to the LC-1 and XD-16? Which you just use as direct reference for tuning? I'm guessing the second...

Oh well... I think I will start looking around for another ECU something more suitabile for a daily, and just chop this one out and gay-bay it off to some one with a dedicated race car.

    Thanks again

Just the one wideband (actually using a wbo2.com 2J1 and LX1 display)
I was gonna send the MT back to get reconfigured to suit the wideband, but can't be bothered now
