Default Mating L40 gearbox to 18R-C

    Hi,
I have an 18R-C in an RN41 Hilux. Is currently auto - would like to go to manual. One of my parts cars is a LN40 diesel, "L" diesel engine with an L40 4 speed manual floor shift gearbox.
I know some 18R-Cs had an L40 box behind them from factory. I was wondering if the diesel engine bellhousings are different? If so, what model toyota is best to get an appropriate bellhousing? I take it that diesel flywheels won't work also?
Could I use the bellhousing from the 18R-C's 3 speed auto?
I haven't gone as far as removing the 18R-C and auto, was hoping I have an idea of what will work before doing so. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Keep it to PM?

If there's tech info that people have to help you then its best to be in this thread so others may benefit from the knowledge.

However, if you merely seek suppliers and places where to get stuff then this thread belongs in the General Car section.

Thanks River - point taken. Have edited the question. Was aiming to direct those who were going to offer parts to respond to PM - am happy for any information to go on the thread. I didn't make it very clear.
Wil put up a wanted post tonight.
