No chance that one of the pulleys got put back on incorrectly, or without a pin/key?
A former co-worker of mine built a 3SGTE and put the pulleys on the cams in the wrong positions.
Idled smooth as a baby and topped out at about 3500 rpm.
we did that last night. but i must have the timing right as it starts and idles. when we turned it over another stroke and adjusted teh dizzy it wouldn't start and backfired.
i''l check the pump tonight when i get home

yeh dont be misguided by idle... your timing can be out which effects running but idle can still be not bad
Is the Turbo spooling up ? are all the turbo lines connected & tight ..
When you rev it with the timining light connected, but Without the diagnostic connector bridged does the timing actually advance ? ( with it bridged the timing will not change much, but without it bridged the timing should advance quite a bit as you rev it .. )
I'll check that once I get the exhaust finished. It's sitting at my brother inlaws place atm. I found it will rev all the way out on very throttle when u get into higher in the rev range it seems to make boost and cut a skid
Yeah both cam pulleys were installed with e and I facing out and the locating pin in the middle hole
I know this might sound silly but I had the same sort of problem when I put the 1J in my soarer and it ended up being 1 vacuum line off and a loose hose clamp on the IC. I'm guessing you would have checked all that sort of stuff?
