Advantages of increased positive castor and its a cinch!
G'day all I just wanted to share with you my experiences of the advantages of increased castor in your Corolla. I know some of you here are aware of these and what they do but for the rest here tis.
Increasing castor has a few advantages, some which help with feed back and feel when driving like the car tracking better and straighter, a planted feel at speed, and the wheel centring better.
Some of the performance advantages as well as better feel and feedback are increased tyre contact area under cornering, reduced torque steer and in the case of these bushes, as they push the rear of the arm out, increased track and negative camber adjustment range a bit as well! Bonus!.
If you have a twincam with the four bolt strut top turn it so as it is at its rear position this increases castor. I did this on mine and still only had 2 1/2 degrees. I work in suspension and the specs listed for the 4age engined 82 are 3 degree MIN. 4 1/2 MAX. In comparison the 4afe specs are something like 1 MIN and 2 1/2 MAX. The lower castor specs are mostly to cover non power steered cars as positive castor makes steering at low speeds heavier, maybe an issue for your grandma, not so much when your modifying your vehicle or getting track time.
From memory with the strut tops turned and bushes fitted I ended up with about 4 degrees. ACE!!!
P/N are

for ae92 SPF 1370AK
If your fitting urethane bushes flick these in as the cost is identical anyway, about $80, does both sides. Makes a difference!
And an alignment will be needed as any changes to camber and castor affects toe settings.

Yeah i've got the whiteline anti lift/caster kit. Made an awesome difference to the handling in my EP91 starlet even when it had stock 13" wheels and no sway bars!
