Default AE86 disc brakes, standard diff??

hey guys im putting a new diff in my 86 because i need disc brakes and i would like to fit an lsd aswell, my question is what are the diff codes ie TE71 ect that are suitable for use in a 1983 sprinter
preferably one that wont cost alot of money to get and install, i was also told i could get a hilux diff shortened and that it would be better and stronger and cheaper in the long run problem is i dont know what diffs are suitable.

any help with this is greatly appreciated as i am not very familiar with differentials in the least!!!

expect to pay $1500+ to have a hilux shortened and fitted with discs

an r31 isn't cheap either, but at least it's already disc brake and the correct stud pattern for your wheels
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....

Think you'll find it a bit hard to find much in the way of brake upgrades, and also a LSD for the standard adm S series diff if that's what you have.

You can get a T18 T series diff - which bolts straight in - and hang jdm ae86 or rt142 corona disc brake setups on it, pretty much a bolt on deal to stock drum brake housing.

They are fine if you are going to big horsepower levels (turbo), a hilux diff in an atmo application is alot of extra weight to be dragging round.

LSD centres are readily available from most suppliers.

If you aren't in a hurry I will have a complete jdm open wheeler disc brake Tseries diff for sale in a few months when I complete my T18 diff with RT142 discs.
