    Default 18RGU wont start (electrical)

    hey all.
im having an electrical issue with my RA23 18RGU
it had a brand new battery, which was ok for a few days, but the car started needing to be jump started. i got a new battery and all was good until the same thing happened. the car starts fine when its jump started and such, so i imagine the issue is the battery is not holding charge, i checked the alternator output, and it read 12.4V. as this is all i could think of that could possibly be the problem, i picked up a 2nd hand replacement and swapped them. i dont have my multimetre at the moment so i cant check the output, but it still occurs, driving the car doesnt help, it still dies (albeit it seems a little slower)
the voltage regulator is not wired up, but as far as i know that would make it charge at maximum output yeah? the battery in the car is quite big (470cca)
i really dont know what it could be, the only thing i can think of is the alternator is a doozy. if anyone has any ideas i would be really great

Plenty of internally regulated alternators you can use.

wiring up the original alternator is only a little bit harder than the internally regulated alternator.

    Hi,

Won't a reg from the same period Corona or something be the same? Both ran 18R-C engines and hey... it's just a reg. Go to the wreckers and grab one out of a 77-79 rona.

I assume you don't have the original regulator and loom?
