'cos there was still oil in the bearings?
not all engines instantly fry when oil pressure momentarily drops.. esp if not under large throttle at the time
how the hell has this engine not shat itself after achieving zero oil pressure on corners multiple times????

still, if its dropping to 0psi regularly i would be a bit worried no? how long does the oil stay in the bearings when the engines spinning at a few thousand rpm?
mine didnt use to get oil pressure if started on a hill until 2000 rpm, when i pulled it down again 5000 later the bearings were worn, but you wouldnt think it had had periods of running with no oil pressure, theyre a hardy motor...

7m's (in a front sump cressida at least) surge REALLY badly on right handers, even in stock form.
the motor i just rebuilt in my daily will drop from 100psi to 20 if you change lanes fast enough.... you dont need to be cornering super hard to notice it
my old motor never had this much pressure and the guage would regularly drop to 0 when cornering right.... i just did as said above and backed off a bit turning that way
that said it did eventually die of big end failure after cooking the oil at a track day, im sure there was some bearing damage from surge in the intervening 5years of hard driving it did though. -incidentally this motor did roughly 10psi/1000rpm from day 1 and i considered this fine.
new motor is great, 20 @ idle, 50 @ 2000 and 100psi under noise
i have in fact began to wonder lately if the nasty oil surge is the reason big end failure is the 7m's 2nd biggest killer. i am building a motor for someone at the moment which i will essentially weld a "cup" into the sump around the pickup to try and help.

does anybody else wanna test their 1gsLike i said should i consider this a problem, it only does it when i literally hook the steering wheel as hard as i can. Also with out having an oil temp gauge to test oil temp would you guys recommend and oil cooler? My ute does see alot of hard driving, and i tow at least 2 dirt bikes with it quite frequently so I need it to last
oil cooler will almosyt always be beneficial.. unless it cools too much
if oil pressure goes to zero, you should consider it a problem, and either modify the mechanical bits, or the soft fleshy bits, such that is doesn't happen(maybe fleshy bits are the easiest/cheapest option here
)
oil temp gauge... VDO/pricol/whatever.. remote sender is better. no stupid hard line between gauge and sender.

My 1g does not do this.

JZZ20 - Daily
cheers thnks for your help guys. Ill slap an oil cooler on it, which Iv wanted to do for ages.
For now ill just keep flogging the crap out of it. My old 1g never missed a beat, until I pulled the head of it and put it on this motor.
