yeah if i dont get mine done that's be good. Ive sat in the back of mine plenty of times haha... I might be able to go in my mates car that was coming with me, cause this the last yr cars under 25yrs can get it. (She got a 1999 Lancer....i think.... somewhere round there anyway)

Plans have changed now.. still waiting on insurance and bloody panel beater to send his quote off, but we'll be doing all the work ourselves cause i cant afford to pay someone to do it haha. Sooo we should be able to knock it over in 2 weeks or so if we get our act together...

Just read this thread and thought I’d comment regarding acceptable display vehicles. The Hanging Rock show has always been about providing a day for owners of veteran, vintage and classic cars to display their pride and joy and enjoy a relaxed day chatting to other enthusiasts.

The ‘special interest’ category was added later to cater for hotrods. That’s right! Not late model Hondas covered in fibreglass and fancy paint (for example), or late model HSVs/FPVs/300C’s, or grey-import Skylines/Supras, etc, etc, etc.

In the words of one of the organisers, “some people just don’t get it!” Every year the organising club completes a review of how the event went. After last year’s event members raised concern over the number of daily-driver/ ‘late model’ (less than 25 year old)/ grocery-getter cars on display. (So it’s of no surprise that a 25 year rule will be applied from 2012.)

Maintaining the quality of the show is an annual struggle for organisers and officials. Officials at the gates are volunteering their time to provide us with this day. They don’t want arguments from a driver of a 10 year old grocery-getter who insists his car is display-worthy, or excuses that “I’m the support car for the classic car in front”, or “I’m part of a group” or “Mum wants to park the VS Commodore next to Dad’s ’32 Ford Roadster” and so on and so on.

Then there’s the local constabulary pressuring officials to keep the traffic moving as cars starting banking-up on the surrounding roads. The officials don’t have time to explain what the car show is about to owners of ‘late model’ cars. When the pressure is on to move cars I really don’t know how officials will be able to enforce the new 25 year rule from 2012. But at least the new rule provides a more black-and-white direction as to what’s ok for display and what’s not. Hopefully it will make some reconsider fronting-up with a ‘late model’ car.

For 2011, I think we should all respect what the organisers of the event are trying to do for enthusiasts. Yes, they may think a JZA80 Supra (for example) is a very nice car, but it’s not what the show is meant to cater for. This has been echoed by members and patrons alike. And please reconsider sneaking ‘late model’ cars in with a group or arguing that you saw other ‘late model’ cars last year so therefore you should be allowed to display your’s.

    i agree with you there
that is the whole point in assembling "EARLY" as a group and go in all together
i will get in touch with the organisers and see if they can suggest 1 entry gate where we can all meet
    and go in from there
we have done 3 or 4 of these now, and it always amazes me how some people are dead keen to be part of it , and they cant get there because they dont like getting up early , so it boils down to, "' early " = part if the display . " late " = part of the car park

i've heard a rumour that my wheels have arrived at the docks from JDM-land.

so there's a possibility that the whale will be in new shoes come HR.

will be visiting Centre Rd on saturday morning for some small-ish tires.

    Hey guys,
We'll most likely be able to bring the ta22 along, sounds like it could be a fun day and a chance to meet some fellow early toyota fans.

Best you update your members ride thread then!!!

I'll be taking the Crown on it's maiden Toymods/TCCAV/Rollaclub voyage to hanging rock this year. Considering it's only 15 minutes from my place i've got no excuse not too.

I'll have to wait for the convoy of Toyota's on the side of the freeway and tag along from there if thats cool.
