...from what I am reading I just put the logbook and the letter I got with the logbook in my car with the original permit papers and just fill in until I have to renew....then I need to get signatures etc....until that point I don't have to?.......if that's not right let me know

.....no stickers are issued until renewal is what I am reading so when that happens you will get the club to sign the renewal forms / send it off to Vicroads and then Vicroads will send you a sticker to put in your logbook and you won't then have to carry the original permit papers etc.

i had a meeting this morning
with the the police management unit and they were unaware of the changes
they even asked if they could copy my documents from vic roads so there other units can be informed
she also rang vic roads to try and get information from them , but gave up after getting the run around from them
so as it stands at the moment those with log books fill them in
she suggested that we should copy a few pages and fill them in on the day for any one not getting them
in time for hanging rock , as there were no legal disclaimers about copying the log book .
but it would be deemed by vic police that the drivers of club plated cars were keeping in the spirit of the system , however , all the relevant road regulations must be observed , and they will only pull over club plated cars if they were doing something wrong , so common sense must be used
also we will be under scrutiny from other areas , any of the emergency services have the right to report any infractions , the report would be given to police who in turn inform vic roads who then will inform the car club that the offender belongs to , and they have to take disciplinary action against the offending club member , failing to take any action will have the club plate privileges removed from that club .
that seems to be a lot of responsibility to throw on the club ,

I got my log books yesterday, but no stickers!

So are they valid to use from Feb 1 without stickers in the log books or not!?!

I tried to ring VicRoads to check, but the lines are all jammed.

Ok the forms say that until your renewal comes up you don't need a sticker just the logbook filled out and your current permit. Therefore the second logbook I received is to cover the 9 days from feb 1st till my renewal.

    Interesting information.

It is a lot of responsibility on the club, but we have always been in that position, its just highlighted more now. This is why we want to meet people who are applying for club plates, to enable us to make some judgement on the likelihood of doing the right thing....

it seems good to put the responsibility on the club, and more importantly on the drivers... as that is where responsible driving should start! should result in better self-regulation?

Oh well there goes my idea of getting club plates, they want to meet me first, It's like meeting the girlfriends parents for the first time. l don't know how much money it is going to take to get a bribe. HaHaHa. Only joking boys

We will start looking in to it after Hanging Rock.

    its not there fault
they can only act on the information provided by vic roads
and vic roads is staffed by public servants
    hence the problem
it was explained to me that the contacts for club plates in vic roads just wont answer there phones email etc
and are constantly at meetings/courses /rdo's / flexi time /long service annual leave etc etc
and one person in particular there when the workload increases just pisses of on stress leave
untill this type of mentality is addressed ,we have no hope

I found it strange that they posted out the paperwork and down the bottom it said if you had any problems contact Fergus McDonald....now if ever there was a job you wouldn't want it would be this!!!!!!.......with such a massive mailout and him being the sole contact....i bet he is on stress leave already!
