As for the supply of said velcro, any further advances?
Bunnings normally has some and will sell by the meter off the roll.
Same with Spotlight/Lincraft or any other sewing store.

From what I read somewhere once 1sq meter will support (in it's strongest direction, cant remember if it's shear or tensile) 1 ton.
Should do to hold the box.

Beige.... The new Black!!!
I've got a mate who has his sub box velcro'd in the back of his car for easy removal(as he likes mountain biking..), it's some serious stuff, not sure where he got it from as he's an engineer, but I'll try to get you some info.
Velcro is avaliable from shops like Spotlight etc. fabric shops and that sort of thing.
you can get it in strips, or squares etc.
plenty of sizes, not very expensive at all.
for attatching a sub box, i wouldnt bother at all with adhesives, just stitch one side of the velcro to the boot carpet, and the other side stapled into the bottom of the sub box.

am i hearing this correctly?
velcro for sub boxes?????!!!!!!
this stuff may hold it down nice when your normally driving, but what happens when you hit a tree/parked car/anything head on? there is no way in hell this would hold a sub box down in that situation. and even if the velcro can "hold 1 ton" i bet the attachment to the box/floor cant, and even then if you look at the forces involved in a 80km/h crash with a 25kg sub box you might open ur eyes!
hands up who wants a sub box through there front window....
i've seen the result of crashes and sub boxes too many times to know there is only one way, false floor and bolts/screws.

WRX - currently epa'd...
i agree the "proper" way to do it is with ratchet tie down straps or something but...
i have 3 "vicious" spec bits of velcro tape on the bottom of my sub box (about one inch wide by 3 inches long each) and two strips the same size under my amp, and it holds them down pretty good, only problem is they move the carpet around as that is'nt fixed solidly to the floor.
this is in a sprinter, best place i have foudn for the sub is hard up against the back seats which might stop it going through the windscreen, then the velcro just stops it going side to side.
get it at bunnings, buy a metre of it and that should do you fine,
one word of warning, it makes it a total bitch to get out of your car, its sticks to carpet REALLY well.
also it doesn't offer much in the way of theft prevention.
Aussie Disposals sells it too. in 1/2", 1", 1.5" and 2" thicknesses by the metre. i used to work there/still do occasionally so i think im gonna go and ghrab some this weekend just for this. thanks for the idea!
what i did was put some velcRo onto a bit of 2x4 using the staple gun. then push the sub against the chair and put the 2x4 on the carpet holding it inplace, worked with no probs at all. the carpet would move around abit but thats a diff prob.
