    Hi,

Put some baffles in the sump to help also - in regards to oil loss while throwing the car about the track.

I am hoping my engine will be ready for the Classic Celica cruise.

    Karl,

Don't expect miracles. He basically got the 2D geometry of the main pump components and not very well. We can work together to tweak em. Can you do CAD? PM me your e-mail addy and what we got (not much) is yours.

    Hi,

I haven't been reading much on this thread at all for ages, but realistically you could make the oil pump to any design you want. It is a very simple pump indeed and i could basically draw up anything you guys had ideas for. It would be fairly easy to figure out how much oil it pumps per revolution and could just make one that is similar. The pump i had made did have collision issues when i ran it in inventor. I've still got the drawings here somewhere though. Should start fiddling again........

Guys, does anyone have a diagram or link to the diagram for how the tubing on the 18RGEU goes on the inlet manifold side of things?

    Any help would be great!

Well since no one else has an actual 18RGTE yet.... i'd thought i share where mine is up to in the JMR workshop.

The engine is now 95% complete, JMR just needs to:
    - install welsh plugs
    - fit front sump (and modify oil pickup)
    - modify crank pulley with 12-1 tooth trigger wheel
    - gimme back my box of bits
    - make engine mounts once ive test fitted the engine
    - make turbo manifold
    - stop working on rivers engine

    Basic specs are:
    - 88250 head, O-ringed
    - mild porting
    - stock cams
    - 10mm exhaust studs
    - SPS custom forged pistons
    - Crower H-beam rods (custom)
    - stock crankshaft
    - Main bearing stud kit (ARP?)
    - JMR head studs

So.... this is what the uber 18RG looks like, so far:

Head studs visible here, as well as teh BRAND NEW no.2 chain tensioner

Intake port, showing how its been ported and cleaned up

exhaust side... with EGR blocked, and exhaust studs helicoiled for 10mm studs

Crower H-beam rods, main bearing studs

and a sneaky view up to the skirts of the SPS custom forged pistons.

could you possibly ask him about the main studs, cause from what i've read they are the ones that you cannot get for these motors. the american guys were saying that some mitsubishi (?) ARP head studs fit.

    Hi,

Jase is doing my engine now. I got held up by Thomas, but I'm not going to be held up again. Get back in line..... after me, sunshine.

Mitsu head studs can be used for the 18RG HEAD (albeit 19mm too long necessitating machining of the head), but I am not aware of the Mitsu head studs working as mains.
For Karl's engine, I used 7M Mains Studs.
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

If no work to be done on the body, how about splashing a bit of paint on the new block.

yes the block will get painted. BLACK.
And in case you missed it, i sold the RA28, and now have a KE70 which is going to be the guilded recipient of this fine piece of tractor hauling donk.

River.... my engine was there first, so YOU get back in line buddy!!

P.S. Jase said he isnt going to do anymore work on your engine until you do something about the horribly inadequate midsump and terrible oil pickup you have. Luckily for you I have a JMR custom winged and baffled sump and modified oil pickup sitting in Jason's workshop which you can have for the modest price of $300.

    does anyone OOPS.
Does anyone have a pic of the RA28 engine bay, exhaust side with 18RG installed? If so, do you fancy posting here?

    Thanks in advance
