Ok so i've never seen a clutch slave cylinder before im gonna guess its this, unsure where my LED torch went so had to use a normal torch and it looks weird. this is a "roads eye view" of it, or 1/birds eye which ever you understand better.
and also its a cellphone pic :\ dunno where he camera went, not going so good for me.
I removed the rear springs quite easily, went to do the front, not so easy, first time doing it so wasnt sure what to do, but i took a guess and went the long way, which didnt work lol. So it turns out i have to compress the springs inside to remove :\
Looks pretty good at the mo anyway.

The first pic is indeed a clutch slave cylinder, and it is the later non-adjustable type. So you are in the clear as far as that is concerned. Next thing you will want to check is where the gearbox mounts to the body. If you can take a photo of that bracket and post it up, then we should be able to work out whether you are going to have a smooth sailing conversion or not.

    • Buy W55/W57/W58.
    • Attempt to get RT142 shifter position (the forward-most type)
    • Buy 21R/22R bellhousing and fork from RA60/RT142
    • Use the gearbox crossmember from your W50.

Actually... if you buy the whole W55 gearbox from an RT142 corona, its actually a bolt in affair (almost). Just be careful its not one of the RT142 coronas with a borg warner gearbox.

    METHOD:

    1. Remove W50 box
    2. Take gearbox crossmember from W50 and put on W55
    3. Bolt in W55 box
    4. You will find that the two front-most bolt holes on the gearbox crossmember now only line up with the rearmost holes in the chassis.
    5. Get two pieces of steel angle or flat bar, around 150mm long.
    6. drill them out and bolt in according to the diagram below

With the 21r/22r bellhousing, can i get a bellhousing and fork from one that had a w55 behind it and fit to w58? im sure i can but not 100% sure

    Hi,

hmmmm, i'd be shopping around a bit personally, but i don't know what these things go for in nz. My w57, with bellhousing fork etc cost me $300. Different 5th gear ratio but otherwise the same.

w57's have the highest 5th of all w series boxes. and lower power rating than 58 so would go cheaper of corse. the guy wants 150 for the bellhousing and fork incl shipping and 850 for the box. some of them go for around $1k depending on condition, unsure of condition of this one but have queried on it.

    Hi,

as food for thought too. If you went with the w55 that the witzl suggested, you could probably buy a whole rt142 corona for about $500. Keep the gearbox, sell the engine and wreck out the rest of the car and possibly even make some cash! I'de also look about for an ra60 or something and do the same. 180rwkw isn't going to smash a w55 in a hurry, and if you get one from an rt142 it probably hasn't had the 25odd years of bashing that a ma61 supra probably would have had.

But yeah, i'd still be shopping around.
