I will be getting there pretty early as I dont want to put up with the likes of the V8 supercar traffic chaos. Probably around 6 ish ,with a coffee and a bacon and egg sandwich. That will get me parking at the track and a good viewing position. Gates open at 9 I think but by that time the traffic will be backed up to joondalup drive and you will most likely have to park in the overflow parking a couple of kays away from the track. This all depends on the amount of people that are attending.
Its all over by 4pm so it wont be a late day.
Cheers Dave

I went, I saw, I left early
F1 car = major disappointment, ..., actually, whole day = major disappointment.
care to explain why clint ??
ive been sitting in aircon watching Discovery Turbo channel all day, its too hot outside.
100% agree with clint..f1 car not going 100% is fail..
Drift demo was best event of day..had I not had corporate tickets and been shit drunk all day I would have been really disappointed.
Still day of motersport beats a day of work hands down..
Stomps
I tend to agree with Clint. such a dissapointment. I should off left when you did Clint!. Time taken to get out 1.5 hours. The dickhead traffic management people had the left turn from Wattle ave closed so you could not get to wanneroo road the back way. definately wont bother going again.
Cheers Dave

We arrived at the track around 8am - I am well aware of the shitfight that getting to the track becomes for anyone leaving their run later. While this is not something AAC had any control over, the continuing failure of both the local council and state government to improve access to the track is a long argument that still seems to be at a standstill - someone really needs to pull their finger out, espesially considering this joke of a track is our "main motorsport venue" in WA.
We parked, gathered our belongings and simply walked through the nearest gate - no ticket check, no alcohol check, nothing. I read the pre event blurb on do's and don'ts and left the sunshade at home, but fortunately took the sunscreen. If the venue wants to enforce a "no shelter policy" - they need to seriously consider providing some better viewing conditions in relation to shade - considering our climate here in Perth and the actual venue. I'm not surprised those that did bring and errect shade tents were not told to remove them, fortunately they did the respectable thing and kept them further up the hill. Large golf umbrellas while an obstruction were also view blocking - but a necessary evil on a day like today, so I'm not surpised the numerous "security staff" walked around doing SFA all day.
The actual events were rediculously short - a warm up lap, two laps of feined competition, and a cool down lap per category does not make an event. The continual delays and lag time between actual action on the track were also noted - seriously, how hard is it to have a category exit their cool down lap, while the next event is released for their warm up lap.
As for the F1 Car - this is more personal disappointment. I realise the actual car they are using is old technology, would be speed limited and probably quite a handful to drive on the track with any real zeal - but I was completely underwhelmed by it - the noise, speed, presence, and allure was nothing like I had been told or expected. To be honest I enjoyed wathcing Tom Van Kann's beautiful blue KE25, and the red historic Camaro power slide around the first corner much more than the F1 car.
The infield bike/quad/offorad racer events were insulting - I'm glad we were on the upwind side of the circuit considering the dust they caused and the fact that anyone sensible was wearing a thick coating of sunscreen which would retain that dust - I'm sure there are a few people who went home needing a shower after those events. I have nothing against the offroad guys but this day was essentially about tarmac motorsport so their haphazard events didn't do any favours I feel.
I think the dispersal of the crowd after Ricciardo's laps and donuts for the media on the front straight spoke volumes (the second time the F1 car was on the track). I heard yesterday that AAC was hoping to sell upwards of 40 000 tickets for the day, and had only reached 16 000, looking around the circuit and the free spectator space - I'd be surpirsed if they hit 20 000 ticket sales. All in all, the day really felt like a money grabbing exercise to me, and not something I would ever bother attending or supporting again.
Highlights of the day:
The historic "rally/tarmac" and historic race cars.
The drift demo - it made me appreciate it more than I have previously thought.
3 women in the crowd - eye candy was particularly lacking
The purple G string on the blonde sitting next door to us.
I'ts a bit sad when the highlights only consist of 1/2 motorpsort!
EPIC FAIL.. Massive epic fail.
Left at 8am. wasnt even to yanchep road by midday. Biggest joke ever. Three people in my car decided when we head on radio a lengthy walk from car parking to track, U turn... so we decide lets go to the Casino and drop another $85 on black... so we actually did. I dropped 85 on black and won... boss dropped 85 on black and won... sales rep decides to bet on red... and wins awesome so at least we werent out of pocket!!! fuck it lets go to the pub and watch manuel vs katsidis.. another Loss to australia.. then watched ashes.... grrrr at least i got a skinful of piss into me.
Honestly i've been to any number of events at wanneroo and never ever have i seen such a shitfight fuck up waste of fucking useless time than the parking/driving to this particular event.
Well done AAC.... EPIC FAIL on grandest Fail scale of all time.

Epic fail does not begin to describe it. Farking ghey as fark.
I should of stayed home and played GT5 instead:
I would have saved $90 Entry+pit
Prolly around $15-20 in fuel.
Farking $8 for two small bottles of water....wtf
Almost 6 hours of my day just getting there and back
The F1 car wasn't as exciting as I had expected it to be. (I.e. my pants remained loose)
I love the old school, but its heaps better going to a normal race meeting and watch them actually race and not do a parade lap, some formation driving and another parade lap.
I'll get some pics up later on.
