    Default 7MGTE & 1JZGTE manual bellhousing competibility

Hi Everyone, I got questions here need you guys to help me out!

    Right now! I have a 1JZ-GTE (from a soarer JZZ30)with a Auto gearbox,

Now I would like to do a manual conversion on it!

and I am about to buy a R154 out of a 7M-GTE (MZ21 model soarer)

Just wondering if I can use the auto gearbox bell housing to fix to that R154 to get it running?

    Thanks

    Hen

    Nope

You'll need a xJZ to R154 manual bellhousing.

No auto bellhousing will work (easily anyway), and the 7M-R154 bellhousing will also not work behind the 1JZ

Hi Wilbo thanks for your help!

Hmm so that means I just need to get some any xJZ series model bellhousing should be able to attach to that easily?

Just a curiosity does all the R154 box are exactly the same right? no matter which model of the supra/soarer/chaser etc.

Yes, you'll need to get a xJZ to R154 bellhousing.

There are some slight differences that I know of between R154s, in particular the gearbox mounting...but the bellhousings are the same for all R154.

Flywheels are different, 7M is 6 bolt with an offset hole, xJZ is 8 evenly spaced bolts.

Factory clutch plate, pressure plate & throw out bearing are identical between 7M (R154) and xJZ (R154).

    Hi Wilbo,

I Just want to make sure! so I want to the Extrem Clutch website and found out that 7MGTE/MZ21 have the same dimension clutch plate with the 1JZ
and the fly wheel just like what you said!

    Thanks Bro, really appreciated!!

Right now is the dilemma for me,

Because I can get the R154 for $1k but I have to source all other parts such as "clutch, flywheel, tailshaft, most with pedals and line, master, slave etc etc."

    OR

I can just go to Wrecker and get a conversion package with the R154 for $2.5K

Which one you reckon is better????

I don't know what your plans are

    I.e.

Will the pedals and tailshaft work (if you're doing a conversion into a different car then prbly not!)

Do you want to run a factory clutch? (Will this meet your power level goals?)

I'd prbly go the 1k gearbox option. $1500 for a bellhousing, clutch, fly, tailshaft and cyls doesn't seem like good value to me

    Cheers

Hi JP thanks for the easy reading price list which is also very helpful, so I know how much I should be paying for!

Just wondering if you have some of those items?

Right now I am just looking for
    ---]JZ R154 Bellhousing
    ---Fly wheel

Not really going anything hard so far, cos it's a stock 1J engine!

After thinking about it, I am gonig for the 1K gearbox and gona source the rest myself.

Right now just need the bellhousing and flywheel

This will be just for the 1J stock engine and weekend drift that's all, nothing hardcore

I dont have any of those items to sell, but have recently had to purchase them all after starting with an MA70 R154 for my 2J.

You can get a non-genuine copy of the JZ bellhousing off ebay pretty easily now, slightly cheaper than buying a new one from toyota.

To Wilbro and everybody that is looking at this thread,

Forgot to ask, can I use the fork and the slave from the 7MGTE and just hook it on the Bellhousing for 1JZ to R154? cos looking at it, they are both a bit similar!
