Default Ga70 manual speedo cable binding/jumping

    hey all

my speedo seems to be bouncing alot below 40 now that its hot and im curious about if the cable itself is the problem or if its at the gearbox end and ive never worked on anything like this, not sure what does or doesnt need lubricating

    cheers

Usually the cable needing to be CLEANED & lubed, the trans. drive gear does not.

it's a relatively easy job to pull the inner out of the speedo cable and lube it up again. i normally just use grease. smear it on the inner and feed it back in. also check for kinks or maybe touching the exhaust.
so much stuff. so little time.

one of the strands may have broken off and be catching as well.. (had this happen before)
    pull out to check.

Apart from the fact that it probably wont fit (and there is already an A70 digital dash), the main problem with that is that it still may use a speedo cable. I know that my GX81's digital dash has a cable and that the JZX81 update (91 onwards) digital dash use an electronic speedo.

Nothing high temp about it unless it's being run near the exhaust, and then it oughta be re-routed. I prefer oil but grease'll be OK if it's very light & especially if its got one of those fragile & expensive angle drives. It doesn't need the all the drag from 1M of heavy grease! Any bright worn spots on the cable, they shouldn't be there so find out why it happened, a kink or bend in its housing. Put it in & pull it out while turning to wipe it off a few times, that'll pickup the smegma inside the cable housing.
