    Default w55 speedo cable

    Hi all,
in the home straight on the completion of my car, i have hit a snag (among others). the ta22 speedo gauge cable does not fit the w55 speedo fitting. is there any way that i would be able to keep the standard gauge, and make it suit the gearbox? and on the same note, what do the wires on the left side of the gearbox connect up to?
    thanks in advance

Wires are for the reverse lights.
When you select reverse, the two wires are short circuited.
Give one wire +12v IGN, and the other wire connects to the reverse lights.

A W50 cable from an RA40 will fit the gearbox, and have a high chance of fitting the speedo too.

Yeah, RA40 cable (auto or manual) should fit, along with KE30/55 surprisingly (used an RA40 cable on a KE30 and a KE55 cable on a RA23 so far). I thought the TA22 cable was the same also... but maybe not, ill have to have a look at the TA22 item i got in my back shed, and compare it with the RA23 item sitting next to it. Failing that, you should be able to pull the speedo drive from your stock TA22(probably T50 if it was manual) box and put it in the W55. Im pretty sure they are compatible, i know the W50, W55 and A40D speedo drive gears are all interchangeable.

Oh yeah, im pretty sure the W55 incorporates a neutral switch as well, which you will not need unless you want to wire it so that you cant start the car unless you are in neutral. Also with your cable, make sure the nib on the gearbox end of the cable lines up with the slot in the speedo drive gear. If the cable is not long enough, then you can get a right angle adaptor out of an RT142 corona (i think the speedo cable from these fits too, ill check that while im at it) which will help your speedo cable reach.
