OT sorry, but i'll be seeking your help soon champ i've got my new 7m in the shed now, and it's nearly ready for installation. Also I think i've got the dual sport wiring sorted, i've picked up a lsm11 o2 sensor and should have everything in late next week *fingers crossed*
It sounds like I have the same dual sport as you too.

I myself am running the new stinger 4424. If you feel like there is no-one you trust in perth with your car there is a tuner in Bunbury who tunes his own cars and many others and always when possible uses the EMS being a 4424 or the 8860. I have had no problems what so ever with the stinger and find it the best value computer on the market. You have pretty much called the main points on the stinger having the 4 outputs, upgradeable etc etc. His name is George Konterinas and he owns/runs GSpeed in Bunbury. Any other details shoot me a PM.

Also 30psi 4agte, I thought that with the old dual sports you were able to send them away for the free upgrade of the 4424??? Or am I mistaken?? Why not go that route instead of going the 8860?

Well, I won the bid. $680, maybe a bit much, but it's got igniters and a hand controller etc. Any idea what the deal is with swapping it for a new 4424? Sounds odd. Anyways, now to get it all setup.

    Cheers, RM.

On my old setup i was using 550 cc @ 55 psi pressure and we could not make the car idle sweet at 14.7:1 ( IT would hunt) It would idle ABSOULELY PERFECT at 12.5:1 but ever time we tried to lean it out more it would hunt again.
Interesting...with my custom (homemade) ECU and 4AGZE bigport SC14 motor, if I riched idle out to less than around 13:1 (lambda 0.9) it idles nicely, but it starts occasionally missing if I go higher than 0.95 lambda (14 :1). Possibly due to the injector size since pulse widths are smaller at higher AFR with everything else constant and of course fuel delivery on every injector every concieved becomes non linear at 'small' pulse widths.
I have 550s, but unfortunately 12 ohm jobs, so cant really make use of my peak and hold circuitry for faster turn on. Most stock MR2SC's I know of also miss occasionally at idle too - maybe they all have dead O2 sensors?! They are all over 20 years old...
I have heard that spark advance idle speed stabilisation (I use this in combination with a air bypass stepper) will be sensitive to AFR in a non linear fashion. Does your ECU use this, can you play with settings?

    Cheers, Nick.

The adaptronic sounds like a great unit. The only thing that worries me is tuners, who knows them in brisbane?

I rand EMS today and you cant upgrade the dualsport to 4424 specs
The most you can do is upgrade to version 5.75 wich i already have.
I think you are talking about the free uprgade within the first year if you buy a new ecu.

    Nick
Im thinking it is just a 4a thing then. Like i said it idles perfect but just rich.
I dont really care about fuel ecconomy lol
Its good to hear that someone else has experienced this.

as far as the spark advance idle speed stabliser EMS does offer something very similar but i dont use it. My motor is very basic when it come to stuff like that . I only use whats needed and got rid of all the crap.

I use just a throttle body thats it! no idle control or idle air screw just a TPS. ( i use a modified / ported EL falcon throttle body)

anyone with previous experience tuning aftermarket computers and at least 1/2 a brain should be able to do it. Just ask around theres bound to be someone up there thats installed and tuned them before, have a look around on the adaptronic site.

The upgrades, are they just a software patch? The setup I'm getting is hand-controller only, no laptop port. Can the hand controller be connected to PC to upload new maps/firmware etc? I'm not too familiar with aftermarket managment (although it may come soon )

Nah you mcant connect the hand set to a lapy.

Depending on what version ECU you scored you may only need the cable to conect to lappy or the you can upgrade ecu and get a dongle to connect it.

the ecu upgrade is just a software upgrade

Ive seen many a car with a microtech and yes after u spend many a time setting up the cold start and crank maps and u finally get it right and replace acouple sets of sparkplugs its all good but i have also seen the adaptronic set up and i cant fault it in anyway! unlike the microtech that u send away to be reprogramed and get back after a month or so and pay $400 or so with the adaptronic u down load the new bass map. they also run idle control motors threw 1 of the many aux outputs with no problems. just my 2 cents worth

$150 and 1 week or 5 business days mine took

cold start and idle took 5 mins. i suppose ot comes back to the quality of your tuner and his or her ability, unfortunately too many people call themselves tuners when they couldnt tune a vcr.
