$150 is for changing a couple of things
Its $350 to completely change the ECU map to suit another car,

Microtech cannot control the factory 4 or 6 wire steepper motors without a convertor box.
It can however control the 3 wire motors of the smaller Toyota motors.
I have a 20V 4AGE ISCV on my 1UZ, and it works fine.

Knock sensor input concerns me not.
o2 sensor input/closed loop fuel correction would be nice, but not needed.
A properly tuned ecu is going to give better fuel economy than a factory ecu with closed loop control, so you are better off anyway. Sure, the Microtech would be better with closed loop control, I'm not going to deny that.

i sent mine back 3 weeks ago champ. $150 back in five business days.

you can adapt the factory stepper motor as done by danishon these forums, its justs take some out of the square thinking.

i dont run an idle air control valve at all. i can and have started my care at 3 deg cel and its starts first hit of the key everytime and idles at 11.2 11.3 afr at 800 rpm all day every day.
this laptops gone totally mad.. wouldn't log out

cold start and idle took 5 mins. i suppose ot comes back to the quality of your tuner and his or her ability, unfortunately too many people call themselves tuners when they couldnt tune a vcr.
apparently thats gone up a bit cost me $250 for one about 9 months ago and now it is apparently $380

If you look at most microtechs that don't have actual idle control with a proper valve actually connected to the output of the computer (as 90% of them don't and no microtech can control the factory idle stepper motors used on many engines like any decent ecu can anyway) you will see that to make them idle when cold they have a timing vrs engine temperature map so when they are cold they run more timing over the entire rev range to increase the idle.
yes it works but if your motor is tuned on the edge and someone jumps in and nails it when cold....
If you have a wax pellet type idle solenoid it will mechanically help compensate for the lack of idle control but lots of motors don't.

and for a ecu built in 2006 to not have any adaptive ignition control or adaptive fuel control or "proper idle control" and no one output that can be configured to drive a simple air bypass solenoid really doesn't count

my standard toyota 3sgte ecu from more than 12 years ago does more including the full sequencial injection

you must have a wax pellet idle control or something mechanical as well to make it idle cold and it sounds like you were very lucky to get a reconfigure that cheap

In this I would vote for the EMS

I have an EMS Stinger 4424 and its a couple of years old, and it only seems to have two aux outputs and I kinda wish it had more. did they add more outputs in more recent versions? This is not something that simply upgrading software would fix is it? (it would already need extra wires in the harness for the extra outputs, which I don't think it does)

I also wouldn't mind being able to plug in a hand controller, rather than having to use the laptop, but I don't think this is an option for the stinger is it?

Other than those things I've been happy with it overall and can vouch for it being good value for money. ($999)

one thing I have noticed EMS in my experience have really good support. About 3 minutes on the phone and they gave me the complete crank and cam wiring info for an ej20 even told me which pins on the standard sensor were + and - (second hand ecu with no wiring diagram) i was impressed to say the least
