what about a halteck?? they in the same price catagory
Sounds cool. I think it'll need an external MAP sensor as well, and a few other bits and peices which'd bring the price up, wideband O2 ($200)...

*Oh, and what's a Haltech worth? Can't find prices on teh interweb

hahaha, you must have posted just as I edited
P.S. Wish I could rep you more for all your help, cheers.

I can vouch for EMS !!!! The place i used to work for was a distributor for em. The stinger is excellent value and what it comes with as far as imputs / outputs and logging etc is up with the best of em.
I use a Dual sport high boost with full data loging and switchable map switch ( able to switch between diff maps at flick of a switch)
Not cos i have one but i think these ECUs are the shit just look at what some of the big guns are using !!! - EMS
If you go down this route let me know as i have shit loads of knowledge about em and will be able to help[ you out no sweat!

So you're running one of their older, dualsport ECUs? And you find it good and worthwhile? How are the features? Inputs, outputs, tuning res etc?
RM.
Yeah im using a dual sport with ALL of the trimmings ( thanks to being a distributor)
I have wanted to upgrade to the 8860 for a while but dont think its worth it just yet although they do have more tuning points.
I will be speaking to peter from EMS soon to c if its possible to upgade the internals to 8860 spec or if i will need a complete new ECU.
There is NOTHING wrong with mine its just im a fussy bast@rd and like to have the latest toys!
The only thing i can complain about is injector control at idle. When using big injectors of 550cc (with high fuel pressure) or bigger than that the dual sport seems to have a little prob with the fine tuning.
On my old setup i was using 550 cc @ 55 psi pressure and we could not make the car idle sweet at 14.7:1 ( IT would hunt) It would idle ABSOULELY PERFECT at 12.5:1 but ever time we tried to lean it out more it would hunt again.
We werent sure if it was the ecu not being able to pulse the injector fine enough or just my motor loving its fuel (Its no stock engine so who knows)
I spoke to peter from EMS ( he is VERY helpful another bonus of going EMS) and he assured me that the dual sport will have no prob controling the 850cc injectors on a 1600cc engine that i wll be using soon.
As far as imputs / out puts go there a 4 and 1 imput these can be used to control anything! they can also be upgraded to 6 - 8 or 12 outputs!
This is the only thing i can complain about with EMS and i dont even know if its the ECUs fault

Well, it sounds like a good buy then. The one I'm looking at comes with ignigtors for 4coil and a single ignitor for dizzy use, not sure of the other features, although I think it's got 4 outputs. plus has a hand controller (isn't enabled for laptop use)

mullet, a question. how much have you spent on the engine so far?Originally Posted by mullett
i would go the microT personially if you dont want to spend the extra on a autronic or motec! purely my opinion.
So far I guess about 1k on ancillaries for the engine, plus the bits and peices that came with it. I can do a lot of fabriction etc myself, so I guess I don't spend that much.
RM.
i only asked, because it drive me nuts people spen huge amounts on everything on there car and then spend $1000 on a computer to run it!never made sense to me!
why do you want aftermarket ecu? is it to trim the fuel out of a GZE?
They are upgradable to laptop sotware for F. ALLOriginally Posted by mullett

Mircotechs arent bad either !! but i feel EMS has way more to offer.

I reckon they're better than the Haltec E6K, which is better than either the Microtech or the EMS.
i like everything about the adaptronic besides the fact it only has 4 injector drivers. What is semi-sequential injection? I've considering one of these possibly for my 1g but would prefer sequential injection.
Actually stock, is the 1G a batch fire system?
Cheers
About 90% of the cars I have tuned only idle well with the o2 gauge reading 12.5-13.1. some idle well with it reading 40.0-1 so I think the gassflow is insufficent at idle to give a good reading on a wideband.Originally Posted by 30psi 4agte
Adaptronic are really good computers
$990 for ECU
$66 for 0.5m loom
map sensor can be old toyota, mazda whatever....or new MSD 3 bar is $180 2.5 bar is $120
Wideband input will create the fuel maps from scratch. Narrowband input will correct as you drive like OEM computers do. Knock input will pull timing depending on knock level and ecu configuration.
8 inputs, 8 outputs, Idle control, Wastegate control, Flat throttle shifting...and more
they are totally configurable for engine setup/crank so no sending away and waiting for months to have it reconfigured.
semi-sequential injection means the ecu uses 3 injector outputs to fire the injectors in pairs of 2
LT10 will only drive a 6 cly in pairs of 2 for injection, need a LT12 for full seqential. The factory ecu for a 1G fires in pairs of 3 so Adaptronics and LT10's are both better in that regard.
There is nothing wrong with semi-sequential injection for fuel.
I have recently finished a 1G with adaptronic ecu, EF falcon throttle body/ waste spark coil packs, 440cc injectors, t3/t4 turbo
It runs really well. I have the complete config file for the 1G with all the tuning allready done, so if you setup is similar to above basically wire it up, load the file into ecu, start it and your done.
I can vouch for the adaptronic, it runs my 1G really well.Originally Posted by camrygt?
