Post E10 Anyone using it yet?

E10 has started to show up in Western Victoria around $1.18-$1.20/Litre.

I have been adding 20L to a half tank as I only start and
run briefly on ULP in my LPG RAV4.
    3SFE engine.

I am told it can corrode steel fuel lines.
Also wondering how it will affect the old lines in my 104GT.

Seems to have more power in the 3SFE.

won't corrode steel lines any faster than allowing normal petrol to dry out inside a steel line with a low-oxygen environment.

is not an aggressively hygroscopic and reactive fluid like pure methanol (which will attack soft lines) - your old soft rubber hoses are more likely to fail or go brittle from lack of use and allowing fuel to dry out in them.

Running E85 might push you towards changing rubber lines to current efi-safe hose.

no idea about power - but my GT4 has ingested all kinds of E-fuel (except E85) without major harm (it's noticeably down on power for the lower-spec fuels)

in NSW all 91RON fuel is E10 now, I've not heard of anyone having issues with it.

One word of warning with it though, it will be less efficient than regular 91RON as E10 has a lower energy density.

yeah ive been running E10 for a while on my AE102... and only getting 400-450kms a tank.
Switched to 95ron ULP, and instantly jumped to 500kms a tank.

Conclusion = E10 is fucking gay

It's fine for use but the same equation as always applies: More timing +98 octane = best value for money. Low octane shit is a false economy, even more so with E10

I find I get best economy with 94/95RON in the Eunos actually, in the AW11 I only use 98.
I changed to the mid level on the daily because the price they charge for 98 is getting rediculous and I see no real benefit from it with the daily.

i get a big difference in cruise use between E10 and 98 (98RON not E98). 1/4 tank for a return trip to Brisbane, cheap+nasty fuel is usually 1/3 tank for same trip. The dollars add up when do that several times in one week plus a drive up to Maleny.

But on a windy/bumpy country highway drive it's inconsistent - and once you try to cruise at higher than advised road speeds, fuel use for all goes down the toilet. One recent mad dash for Toowoomba to/from Maleny was well over 1/2 tank. Distance is only 190k each way but there's lots of corners and hills broken up with bumpy straights and hiding places for radar vans.

my comparison is the daily commute - which is about 50% slow traffic, 25% normal flowing suburban road, and 25% decently flowing freeway. Total trip around 30kms return.
Then add a few weekend trips, usually with one decent freeway trip of around 50km round trip.

..... just normal city driving really.

I can add to Witzls comments.

In the AE93 Corolla on E10 I get 450-475km out of a tank
    On 95 or V-power I get 525-575.

This is 80km round trip to work each day in peak hour traffic.

I also noticed a drop in low / mid power and economy when they started introducing the E10 compared to the ULP.

    I now run 95

    E10 sucks balls

    Cheers

where are you getting E98 from?

E98 would imply fuel which is 98% Ethanol...

98RON is what you mean surely

sorry - should read 98RON - i often fuel up at Newman or similar stores and all of their fuel has some sort of E in it.

Conclusion seems to be e10 is gay for daily drivers, what about for performance in particular premium 100 (e10, 10% ethanol with 98ULP) by united.

Any opionins on this with regards to less detonation in compared to 98ULP? on the quest to run E85 (not far away just need some bigger injectors), I am thinking of using this over BP ultimate. Obviosuly car tunned for it.

Even though I'm down in Tassie I've been running the Ethanol based 95 since it came here and I have had no problems with the quality of it.91 is definitely crap as I found out after putting a dose of 91 in my old XT 130 Rona and it played up something cronick. It wouldnt idle and bugger all power.Put 95 back through it and it ran like clockwork.I now have my Mark 2 Rona 4M powered and stock as and it runs sweet as on 95 better with 98 but I cant really justify the price.
    Cheers Brett.

I have used the 100 octane with 10% ethanol and its very good fuel.

Mates carby v8 was always on the edge on detonation with BP98, I put him about this fuel last summer and it has cured it without winding the timing back.
