    Hey guys,

i asked in the 100thou service thread but didnt get a reply.

what water pump do i need to swap from hydro to mechanical on a aristo 2jz?

research says jza80 or jzz30 may fit but im not sure what is the difference between the two pump?

do i need a jzz30 or jza80 rear housing aswell?

JZA80 TT waterpump will be fine
also i believe the JZZ30 pump is fine

they are about 85 bucks delivered to australia from NZ so not exactly too expensive for a complete unit... however i noticed your in osaka... sure postage wouldnt be extreme... or your could source locally for just as cheap

really need to know also if i need the rear housing aswell. i dont have my engine infront of me (is back in Aus, im oordering parts to send back), but i suspect it is completely different. price ive been quoted is about $100 for the rear housing and dont want to waste money if i dont need it.

$85 delivered from NZ for a new genuine toyota pump?? that is cheaper then trade price without shipping in Japan!!?? do you have a link so the website or what not to buy from?

If you buy a Geniune pump, i beleive they all come with the rear housing fitted as the rear housings are different from Hydro to Non Hydro pump's ..

You probably already realise that you have to run a different pulley on a Non hydro pump, it cost me more for the New pulley than the New Water pump !! when i changed it over on my car ..

ill see what they say about it, would be nice if it does.

i was quoted about $60 for the pulley, $180 for the water pump (possibly with rear housing), and $100 for just the rear housing part of thw water pump.

as the above bloke said he got his water pump for about $80, that would kinda add up if the rear housing was included at the price of $180... im glad that i didnt race out and order or id have too many bloody parts!

ill do a wright up when i have shit sorted.

The Toyota water pump price in Australia was to compete against non genuine prices here hence why they may be cheaper than Japan , all Toyota pumps were the same price no matter the car but they are slowly going up .

Contact rory via the above email address... i might be a little out on my quoted price however it will be less than $180 unless they have significantly gone up in price recently

i just confirmed with my supplier that the water pump does come with rear housing and a few studs and o-rings etc.

yeah i think non genuine pumps are about the same or more then the genuine ones here..??!!

never got a reply from the NZ toyota place.

anyway fitted up a genuine jza80 pump (with included rear housing) along with new genuine thermostat. rear water neck thing from the hydro pump worked as well.

    toyota genuine parts FTMFW!

Forgive my ignorance, but when you say hydraulic/mechanical water pump what do you mean? Are you referring to the radiator fan type?

hydraulic water pump also pumps the fluid for the hydro fan whereas the mechanical pump only pumps water...

hydrolic water pump has a hydrolic pump built in with the water pump to power the hydrolic fan.

mechanical water pump is solely a water pump and nothing else and uses a clutch fan (or electric thermo fans)

Cheers, I figured as much but didn't realize the fan pump was actually built into the water pump. I was looking at installing the hydraulic fan setup from a jza70 on my 2jz mz20, as it's overheating with the current dodgy unshrouded electric thermo fans. but it means i'm going to have to swap the water pump along with the rest of gear (res, lines, etc) maybe i'll stick with some AU twins or something.
