Is the ECU throwing any codes?
I got a bit of a odd ball Q for you guys, Basicly im runing a 1988 1gfe on carbys, now it runs well but the timing isnt advancing.im still runing the ECU with everything pluged in except the injectors,now im thinking the ecu wont let it advance cuz its not geting a signal from the inj, could that be correct? like almost a "safe" mode?,is there anyway to get around this or do i need to get a full aftermarket ign system. any ideas would be great![]()
oh and i dont need post saying "why you trying to use carbys " hahah i did it becuse i wanted to, no other reason

Now I'm not sure what configuration the original 1gfe had in terms of MAP sensor or MAF sensor, however if either of them is not in line then the ecu will not advance or (not needed now) inject fuel correctly.
MAF would have to be incorporated into the intake tract pre carby's post air filter. MAP would have to be in the intake manifold post carby's.

have you got the TPS connected to the throttle?
as far as im aware this is the main point of reference for load and there for timing.
guys have run M and W (or what ever) ignition systems with the normal dizzy and had fixed timing on 4ags but its much less then ideal.
i hadnt even thought of checkin that will do tomoroIs the ECU throwing any codes?

For memory dissy is much the same as a GE so just do as was done to the GE I had in my old GX 10 Mark 2 Rona is use a 5ME dissy and ignitor which basically was cut down shaft to suit with the GE cog or ME unsure but should work for your application.
