hi im just wondering if anyone knows if ae86 coilovers will fit a 1982 xt130 corona, as they look the same? and i cant find anyone that will do a one off set for me so i was thinking it would just be easier to get an ae86 set even if the spring weight ratios arent suited

im after a full set, does anyone know of anything that will bolt up??
full set = front struts
rears are a separate shock/spring. while there are coilover units available for the AE86 rears, they're really no better than a properly matched spring and damper.
as for putting AE86 struts in, they will fit (though the strut tops may need to be swapped around), but i can't really see much point as the brakes are worse than the standard corona brakes. the corona struts also facilitate easy potential brake upgrades later on, like the ones in the thread that thechuckster has posted, as well as the variant using MX62 calipers and RA60 discs.
XT130 spindles are larger also.
XT130 based coilovers come up for sale pretty regularly
XT130 & AE86 & MA61 & RA40 etc all share the same wheel bearing. The hub's differ in location of the wheel & disk-mounting faces (inwards/outwards) relative to the base of the strut - but interior wise, they're the same bearings.

wat about these?? as i would keep the xt spindles???
and would the strut tops work??

Clearly you want to buy something off the shelf eh? The people here know plenty, its worth reading their suggestions and taking them on board, as they have seen it and done it many times... however in the interests of helping you out with the off the shelf approach...
Call AJPS in Adelaide - www.ajps.com.au - he will be able to sell you coil overs for the front of your Corona, as well as a coil-over esque solution for the rear too if you are so inclined. You will need to make mods to your rear top shock mounts to be able to handle a coil-over, but its within the realms of do-able. Its not a bolt in off the shelf mod though!
Generally speaking, a lot of the AE86 guys use your Corona struts as the basis for a coil-over upgrade as its better than their AE86 stuff.. implying that you putting AE86 stuff in your car might not be the best solution. Think about it![]()
Oh and if you want to buy the coil over kit stuff like in your link..try the forum sponsor Otomoto. They sell everything except the strut insert and its good stuff. I used it when converting my Corolla to coil over.. using an XT130 strut.
thanks for the advice SilverRA23 , i was looking for something that i would be able to do fairly easily, which is why i was keen on the megan kit.
