Default BIO-E-FLEX anyone using it yet????

Are any Toyota engines compatable with this fuel(E85) ??. Should i run it in my 1uz-fe or is it only new cars?

AFAIK no Toyota is as yet.

Im running it in my GT4, but only because its been tuned for it.

Be warned Guys on the BIO-E-FLEX fuel. Read the fine print
"A new choice in fuel has arrived: Caltex Bio E-Flex, a fuel that contains up to 85% ethanol blended with petrol."
So If you have been tuned to run real e85 out of the drum then this bio-flex is pointless and not reliable ethanol content unlike the stuff ya buy in the drums for $2 a liter

The fine print i have read so far says that its between 70-85% depending at what time of the year it is, i'm guessing colder months need more petrol than alcohol and the warmer months can get by with the full 85% ethanol. Is it much cheaper than pulp, cause i'm guessing that 'tuning' for E85 means richening up the A/F ratio considerably so is it really viable?

The stuff at the pump can varies from batch to batch. Were as the csr e85 from the drums is all ways 85%
Bust remember is also requires 30% injector usage

I cant see it being any different the 98 octane is its going to vary so much. 10% is alot when ya trying to get the a/f correct

70% ethanol is still going to kill ULP98 for performance.

But how can you tune for it tho? when you dont know wat % it is from tank to tank? Its pointless for any performance car

The timing has to be more advance with E85 (AFR about 9-10). I'm planning to run it in one my cars (non-toyota) but I expect to loose fuel economy as it requires 30% more then normal fuel and required to upgrade the fuel pump and injectors..

    Cheers

What makes you think AFR's have to be around 9-10?...From everything ive read about ethonol, you aim for the exact same AFR's as you do petrol. Yes timing can be added as you are now running a much higher octane fuel but it is not a requirement of E85. 9 - 10 AFR sounds more like tuning pure methonol....

No, you do need to run AFR's much lower than that of ULP.
The confusion comes from what a value of 1 lambda is (which is what WB-EGO sensors use).
1 lambda of ULP is 14.7:1 (as we all know).
    1 lambda of E85 is 9.7:1.

    Read: http://www.v-eight.com/tech_forum/vi....php?f=8&t=781

    This describes it:

doesnt remain to be seen at all. you WILL make more power IF the engine is set up for it*

*this means lots more compression, timing and/or boost.

Yeah I guess your right in that respect but how do you switch between tunes ie;running on E85 one day then Pulp the next,is there a switch on the dash in the new commodes, there isn't E85 bowsers everywhere and how will it stack up price wise?
