Manual Gearbox wise: Pretty sure there is no direct bolt up option in manual.
Guys,
i have the chance to get a fairly cheap GS300 and i was wondering if anyone has done a 1uz into GS300 before as i am interested in doing this and putting a supercharger on it.
as far as my research goes so far, i believe that the 2jzge in the gs is a front sump and the 1uz in the ls400/celsior is also front sump, which should make the engine cheapish.
also the gs has a cousin that has a 1uz in it only problem is that it is 4wd meaning that the xmember and possibly engine mounts would be different? can anyone confirm or deny this?
also need to know if the gs 5 speed gearbox will bolt up to the 1uz, as there are alot of people doing 2j to 1u conversions was hoping one of you chaps might be able to help out there??
i am also going to have to run aftermarket ecu, does anyone know if all the electrics will still work in the car if i dont have an engine connected to it?
hope none of these questions are too stupid. i am just researching this at the moment as i reckon it would be an awesome cruiser if i can pull it off for the right price.
thanks
Glenn

sorry meant the 5speed auto in the gs300. i have no problem leaving it auto, would be a little too much trouble to make it manual i imagine.

You could possibly get a bellhousing to suit the 5 speed (if they used that gearbox attached to the 1UZ in some other car)...
Ecu *could* be made to work with the factory gear, it'd most probably have to be a combination of using the factory ecu piggybacked to the aftermarket one, and a LOT of ingenuity to make it all work properly.
But for all the nightmare it would be (budget at LEAST 12k+, and that might not include the supercharger), why not use a 2J?

The Auto needs the 2JZs brain to operate if I'm not mistaken.
2JZ plus turbos, proven formula, even Toyota thought it was a great idea![]()
