I'm in, but again, only keen if there's a good TECCWA group. Entered a few years ago a couple of times, and without a good group you just get lost in a sea of singlets and commodores.

Maybe 2012 is a better bet?

Post Re: TECCWA - 2011 Motorvation Entries

If my car's ready and running by January, I'm keen to take SPIDA down as part of a TECCWA display, but when my car looks like this, it's always a judgement call as to if it will be ready for January.

With this in mind, and considering other people's reluctance to commit due to similar issues, let me just do some calculations...

Firstly, and unfortunately, Motorvation is a big event organised by others that set the rules, etc. So, there's only so much influence we can exert on how it works. In terms of club entries, this is their preference:

    Clubs / Groups
It is preferred that all Clubs and Groups should submit all entry forms together so appropriate space can be allotted. It is highly recommended that clubs and groups enter as early as possible to ensure necessary space requirements can be met. Entering in a Club or Grouping does not mean automatic acceptance as each vehicle still has to meet entry criteria.

It is for this reason, and to get as cheap an entry as possible, that Damo has tried to get the ball rolling now.

OK, next is the question of when to enter for people unsure of if they can commit yet. Ignoring, the issues with trying to get a club entry sorted as above, the pricing works out as below, ignoring option extras for camping, etc.:

    Nominations Before September 30 - $100.00
    Nominations Before November 30 - $150.00
Late Entry (subject to approval and availability) - $250.00

So, as you can see, if we do enter later than the end of this month, the price goes up $50 or more (assuming you can get a Late Entry, which I wouldn't count on given previous years).

If you were to get an entry in now or later, but then need to pull out, you would get your money back less the following (or all your money back if you're not accepted):

    WITHDRAWALS:
Entrants who withdraw on or before December 31 will receive a full refund of all monies paid less a $25 administration fee.

Entrants who withdraw after this date, but up to 7 days prior to the event, will receive a full refund of all monies paid less a $50 administration fee.

There will be no refunds for withdrawals within 7 days of the event.

So, if you do need to withdraw, it will cost you $25 or $50 regardless. But it will cost an extra $50 entry if you leave entering until beyond the end of this month.

There is supposedly some support for "swaps", but I can tell you I have NEVER managed to get the organisers to agree to a single swap in the last 2 times I was involved with a club entry:

SWAPS (PRIOR to Nov 30): Vehicle or Entry changes may be made by phoning or emailing prior to the November 30 cut off at no additional fee.

SWAPS (AFTER Nov 30): To prevent queue jumping, vehicles cannot be swapped with another vehicle that was not originally entered. As such, subject to approval, Clubs, Groups and Individuals may be permitted to only swap vehicles up to December
31 with another vehicle that had been entered by the November 30 close off but was not accepted

In terms of events, the following are free to enter with your entry. But you don't have to enter if you prefer not to, and we would try to make it so you can enjoy meeting and socialising with other club entrants off the "track":

    Driving Events
Burnout Competition (limited to 60- 30 per qualifying session)- FREE
    Motorkhana/Parkarama/Car Balance - FREE
    Slalom/Motorvation Powerskid - FREE
Horsepower King (Dyno Competition) - FREE

    Other Events
    Motorvation Sound Off - FREE

I know this kind of event is not everyone's cup of tea, but I can say I've enjoyed taking part with others previously. So, IF you're interested and keen to get this off the ground now is the time to think about it.

Otherwise, we'll probably just need to accept the lack of interest and park the idea.

Just some food for thought for those unsure as to whether to get involved.

    Cheers

    Damo, what's the verdict?

    Busted, Plausible or Confirmed?

I'm suspecting Busted, unless you want to see if we can still do a club entry up until Nov 30?

Gene, even with you as a definate - that would give us a massive 3 or 4 cars for the massive TECCWA debut which I think is just embarassing

So I'm not really that keen anymore unless we see a bigger commitment from a few others.

But then the downside of now missing the early cut off, is the increased cost of entry, and the lack of space for car selection too

Maybe best we park this for this year, and get the planning, etc. for the following year underway a bit earlier and see if there's enough interest. The only problem with that is getting people to commit early as it is :-(

Well at least we know we will have Me, Mike and Gene as definates for 2012!!
and with 12 months notice, it gives us more time to get cars done and gather more interest

Ok, that sounds like a plan Damo
Now, lets just hope I don't break it again before then....

what happened to the huge group of OST that was entered few years ago??? part of the reason could be of the hail storm few months ago too!!!??? ... I'm still thinking of entering anyway, but I don't think I'm TECCWA member so not sure if I can or not. It does sounds like fun, would be my first motorvation (if I happen to enter) but I dont wanna be roasted in January sun tho, which is what makes me think hard haha).
