Default Getting the best out of a 2t

I've been looking through some threads and i've found some threads abouts doing little mods like, extractors, carby, and cam mods. But i havnt found a thread about heavily modifing a 2t thats N/A. I've got my 2t with extractors, cam, and a carby, and thats all fine and dandy, but what would happen if some heavy modification were to happen to a 2t? I know a few members would like to know this aswell. I know the 2t is the size of my wallet and its a bit on the slow side, but they were used on race cars so they must have potential... Any thoughts?

    Cheers, Callum

...just give your credit card details to these guys and they will sort it all out for you

......yes these engines have potential and they have been used in all manner of racecars but seriously how much do you want to spend and for what gain would you be looking?

Get the head worked over / more agressive cam / better fuel delivery / lightened flywheel / better clutch and that's without doing any bottom end work. If you start spending $$$ do you then make it a 3T and then do you make it a 3TG hybrid etc etc.

    Hi there,
Yes these little beasts were used in something like the precurser of 'formula ford' or something like that if not other classes back in the day. Just within the last couple of years I rang one of the old speed shops who used to build the motors back in the 80's, unfortunatly they reconed they only did repair work on a few of the old ones still going around in historic circles and were not making the gear for them on a regular basis anymore - this would read VERY expensive for custom work...

The usual cam, carb, and extractors like you have need to make way for:
Monster race cam starting from 270 @ 50thou plus 500thou lift if I had to guess.
    Hardened lifters
    Cro Mo pushrods
    Titan rockers these days
    Very carefully selected valve springs
Minimum of severe duty oversize stainless valves with titanium retainers
Plenty of port and bowl work by an expert in the field, the South Americans take these heads to within a milimeter of their lives with porting then weld em back up for strenght!
Add the usual supporting bottom end forged components with full race balance.
Baffled increased capacity sump, crank scraper, windage tray etc.
    High volume oil pump
Anything else in the engine not mentioned needs to be brand new...

Strap a pair of race tuned 45mm webers to match ported intake manifold, custom tuned length extractors, and driveline all built to suit.

This should come out in excess of 200hp at the flywheel, $10,000 plus dollars, and be rather unstreetable!

Anyone else got something I missed or got wrong???

    Cheers,
    Jason
