Default hylomar and oxygen sensors ok or evil ?

hi , most of my work is on american ( low tech ) cars
just about to put the head on my 18 rg
as a rule i have always used hylomar ( a rolls royce product in a rattle can) on the head gaskets and gm head stud sealer on the studs .
just to show i love them
this car has efi and an o2 sensor but no cat
and we all know that silastic kills o2 sensors and some times cats
any one have any negative experience with hylomar ?

    cheers

hylomar will burn off - so go for it, is good stuff.

(but there's no reason to tag the sensor itself with the blue-goop-in-a-can)

As chuckster said Hylomar is okay. There is one made by Permatex which has copper impregnated through it which helps electrical conduct and stops O2 sensor corroding in if sealer burns away. I have it somewhere in the shed, If I find it later today I will post details.

i wasnt planning on lubing the o 2 sensor with it !
just backing up the seal on my head gasket (which is an unfamiliar brand due to the rarity of the motor)
but it does raise a point
people living on small islands like to throw old copper money (1 and 2 c peices ) into each others tinnies to make the alloy corrode very quickly ......
which made me wonder about using copper anti seize on spark plugs with alloy heads and no hardened thread insert
have switched to nickel anti as its more availiable
am i just being fed paranoia by the boat anti fouling paint industry ?
and should stop shagging that angry blokes missus ?

the alloy corrosion thing requires water - if you've got a lot of salty water down next the spark plugs, then corrosion is the least of your worries.

you should find a different angry bloke's missus to shag.

I have seen the damage that copper antiseize does to the aluminium on outboard motors. The aluminium will disolve and look like a mixture of corrosion and grease. Use the silver coloured neverseize and you wont have a problem.

I use nickel based stuff as it's the only stuff that really works with alloy and stainless. It's also got a higher temp rating.
I use the Loctite stuff in a glue stick container. I've never had a problem undoing a bolt after using this stuff, even oxygen sensors and extractor/manifold bolts.

Hylomar is marketed as O2 sensor safe.

O2 sensor safe usually just means it doesn't have heavier metals like lead of manganese etc, or other things that can "poison" the zirconia ceramic of the sensor.
