    yeh might have a fault in the battery for some very strange reason..

    Hmm I'll try that if I can dig up another battery somewhere. I have found that if it is in one of its no-power-for-you moods then just disconnecting and reconnecting the neg terminal fixes it straight away which seems to suggest that the problem is external and not internal, but it shouldn't be hard to do so I'll try it when I can. Thanks

    At "rest" my batteries read OVER 13.5 V
