there might be a fuse labelled "dome" check it closely to see if blown.
or.. with key turned to "acc" check you are getting voltage to both sides of the dome fuse
licence plate lights should be on the park light fuse...
Hi
Today i was changing the dome/interior lamp and i accidentlidly shorted the lamp/wires.
I thought it was simple and started to look for a blown fuse, i went thru the fuses in the dash and engine room but none is blown.
Is there more fuses hidden somewhere?
Things that also stopped working when this happened is; right taillight, both licenseplate lights, the clock, the fuel sender and the dome light, maybe other things too but this was the things i saw right away.
Any ideas what or where i should look?
Thanks in advance for ur help.

I didnt find a dome fuse or anything simular, but i didnt know there was fuses under the kick panel, so i will have a look today.
thanks again![]()
Hi again
Now i got the dome light and everything cept one thing fixed.
The fuelgauge stays on full all the time. when i turn the ignition off the level also goes down, but turn the ignition on and the fuel level goes right back up on top. i have checked all the wires back by the sender and earth and everything seems fine. if i disconnect everything back by the sender the fuel gauge still stays on top tho, so i guess the fault most be elsewhere.
Does anyone know what kinda current the wire that goes from the sender to the gauge has? is it earthed or is it supposed to have some voltage?
i tried setting 12v on that wire and it blew out all the fuses, so im wondering if its supposed to be grounded, but then i dont see how the gauge will get the signal about how much fuel is left in the tank. Im not a electric genius so its probably totally diffrent from what i think.
The sender was working fine until i blew the dome fuse, but it seems they have no connection with eachother after all, so i guess i blown or fried something else.
anyone encountered this problem before or has any suggestion on what to do?
Thanks again for all ur help
Grounding the wire that goes from the gauge to the sender, it has 12v, should peg its needle on 'F",
putting 12v on it shouldn't do anything at all, and putting 12v to the sender's ground wire shouldn't blow any fuses, except the fuse that you were getting the 12v from.
Sorry, I can't imagine what's what's wrong. What else has been touched or recently modified?

Thanks for ur answer.
Oki, so somewhere along the loom i guess that wire from the sender to the gauge gets grounded since it stays on full all the time, kinda weird since i havent touched the loom or anything at all, cept for that i blew the dome fuse. I think i will try hook up a new wire directly from the sender and try to find it where it goes into the gauge and see if its working then. Since it also blows fuses if i put 12v directly on the wire, its pretty safe to assume the wire somehow touches earth/ground somewhere along the way isnt it?
Thanks again for ur input and suggestions![]()
Yes, that would do it. I don't know how the dome light is involved, other then probably in the same loom that runs from the front back to the tank. The fuse shouldn't have let any of those wires get anywhere near melting, so I'd look for chaffing/abrasion on it. A bulb in place of the fuse will let you test without burning out a bunch of'em. The higher watt the bulb, the less it will glow until directly grounded when it's feeding power to small stuff.

There is also a resister in the back of the intrument set for the gauges and it used to cause the readings to be incorrect.

Thanks for all ur help.
I found the problem today, behind the right hand kick panel the loom comes from the back and turn into the dash. Somehow the loom been rubbing against the metal there and two wires went to ground.
I insulated the wires and the loom and now the fuel sender and everything else is working like its supposed to.
Im giving a round of good rep to you guys that took the time to help me out.![]()
