you'll no doubt but a new oil pump any way, and i'm pretty sure they're interchangeable except perhaps on the gen3/4's with the 2 piece sump.
I think that's what I've got. I do know 90% sure that my 5S does have the larger oil pump.

the last steel sump 5sfe has the same oil pump as the altezza in oil volume but has crank trigger in the oil pump housing
on the altezza valve s you would have no hope in machining these down or using the guides valves are 5.5mm stemm and are over 106 and 109mm in length from memory different colletts 2
thought this may be of interest to you. not a PD charger but it's a SC'd 3s

I'm a lurking member there, and that is one insane build.
become one then....basically a dude(he's in aus actually) has put a redtop beams in his sw20 with a rotrex supercharger, and done his own cutom billet and other custom fabricated parts.
it's the neatest fitment you'll ever find. dunno if he's just a perfectionist or is slightly obsessive compulsive but the work he's one is faultless.
i'll seee if i can drag some images across.
Bloody hell there's some dollars in that! Laid up his own CF intake piping? serious shit![]()

R.I.P.
these are just a couple of pics more for engine, but his thread's are full of little ally bracket's/pulley's etc he's fab'd or had fab'd.
the time, care and attn he's put into it would've resulted in a divorce surely.....if he was married.
i think he made the IC pipes from cast ally(made it all, the mould's plugs etc himself)
that CF is the underbody guard........not where i'd chose to put anf CF if i had some.
If your looking for a 5SGTE motor I have one already built with all the good gear ready to go...This motor will handle up to 1000HP and its going cheap..food for thought

Heaps and heaps of information about this on mr2oc if you make an account there.
I dont think there is any question which block to use, definitely the 5s if you are going for any sort of hybrid 5s/3s engine. The question I think there is is the rod length, rod/crank ratio you want.
The other question is when you delete the balance shafts (when using camry 5s, celica dont have them afaik) do you leave the balance wheel on the crank or remove it to save weight then have the crank rebalanced.

Apologies that I was unclear in my meaning. By 'balance wheel' I mean the gear on the camry 5sfe crank that drives the balance shafts, nothing to do with the harmonic balancer.
You can choose to leave the gear on the crank or not. You have to fill the oil feed hole to balance shafts either way if you remove them.
This thread explains it well. http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=395274
