Hi,
About $1,500 - including new 1-inch diameter brake master cylinder.
Not cheap, but they work brilliantly and, out of all things you do to your car, I think brakes are the most important. Considering the money spent on the engine and the rest of the vehicle, the cost for the brakes was a no-brainer.

Hi,
Maybe I got reamed, but it is what I wanted. I checked various options and prices, plus what I wanted for the car, and found the HS upgrade to meet my requirments.
Of course, your items and their costs looks like parts you rip out of cars at the wreckers, and naturally that would be cheaper. However, for me, I wanted new brakes and braking components, and something that's been proven reliable and effective.
$1500 to stop a car that's already consumed over $20k (with more expenditure to come), is fair value for me.

are any of these cars going to do any track work. going from say a hop stopper to a ba falcon then to a dba then to a brembo vain rotor will all do very different things. remember you get what you pay for with breaks and small stub axles with big wheels and bigger breaks causes premature bearing failure and extra stress on already old parts. question needs to be asked as to who has raced or tested the products being used.
cheers mat
Hi,
I got my brakes for better stopping power and to get engineered for the extra power of the rebuilt engine. I don't intend to do track work. My build is for a nicely performing daily and cruiser. Even has air con!
I beleive 1JZRolla, who has similar brakes, does khana's and maybe track work?

Bloody hell you are getting a bit bent over
Costing for the setup on the Supra:
- MX83 Struts, Steering arms and LCAs: $80
- R33 Calipers $180
- Rebuild kits (x2) $40
- BA Discs $120
- New Studs: $40
- Brake Lines: $40 ($80 all round)
- T3 RCAs $60
- Brake locating rings $FREE (hell i machine them up myself)
So a sum total of $560
Costing for the RX7/MPV setup:
- RA28 Struts: $50
- RX7 Calipers w. Endless pads: $300
- Rebuild Kits: $60
- MPV Discs: $130
- New Studs: $32
- Custom Brake Brackets: $0 (steel that i have around, maybe $2 worth, plus the stock brackets modified)
- RX7 caliper bridges and longer pins: $50
- T3 Offset RCAs: $130now (i paid $90 5 years ago)
- Spacers $80
Total: $832
So a bit more than the Supra, but realistically its one of the best setups i can squeeze under 15" wheels.
But then again i do seem to be able to build things up for cheaper than other people on here can... maybe i shoudl go into business or something.
Both of my setups will be raced extensively, and i have had no issues with the R33/BA setup in the past on race cars. The BA discs which im using on my Supra are commonly used on much faster and heavier cars than mine out at Mallala, and braking into northern is critical. Same with the MPV discs.
Both of the setups have much larger stub axles than the tiny AE86 gear.

ok so i got to the wreckers today after they tell me they have 2 mx73's down there, get there pay the $2 walk around and cant find any mx73's! dont you just love those cock suckers that work at the wreckers?
anyway finish rant, the old cockbreath behind the counter tells me the ra60 lca's are identical, can anyone confirm this? I already have the struts and want to be sure before i go back to take them out and bring them home to find they dont fit.

RA60 lca's have a smaller balljoint then the MX73. LCA choice really depends on what steering arm you will be running.
If I were building a KE70 like you are I would run RA60 struts, these have the same brake bolt spacing as MX73, but you can run power steering arms from power steer RA60/RA65/SA63/RT142 which are shorter then MX73 steering arms and 10mm longer then AE86 power steer arms. The RA60 strut is also pretty close in king pin angle to the KE70 stock strut, I do not know what the MX73 strut angles are.
I do not know what the camber will be like with RA60 struts and LCAs in the KE70, but you can use the KE70 LCAs if it is negative with the RA60 ones.
I may be able to help with MS65 hubs, but you won't be paying nothing for them.
pm me what there worth to you, question, do the r33 calipers and ba rotors bolt onto the ra60 strut?

Yes, if you re-drilled the rotors to 4 stud. Same offsets on the hub and brake mount as MX73 AFAIK. If you already have the MX73 struts and steering arms by all means try them in the KE70, as said earlier I have never touched an _E7_ and so do not know what cambers will result from different struts.
Yeah, its what Gav is doing with his Supra. RA60 (actually i think he got RA65) struts with R32 GTR calipers and discs, same setup different offset.
