The only way to get the fuel out of the oil, would be to heat it up, to evaporate the fuel. A bit dicey on the BBQ or mums stove top .

haha yeah could be a house rebuild I'm up for. Guess that would earn me the tight arse of the century award..

I'll drain a litre or so of the oil and check to see what it is by letting it settle. I'm leaning towards the BHG theory.

Then i'll also comp test it, should be fine with the contaminated oil in it for a few turns of the key.

Thanks heaps for your help so far, still got me a bit bermused as it was fine around 3 months ago.

Fuel is a close relative of the oil, so its not like it's an abrasive from another planet that is going to do immediate and/or serious damage, especially when it isn't under a load.

What do the spark plugs look like & what's the compression???? Which cyl is running VERY rich?
This happens, fuel in oil, from mechanical fuel pumps that have a bad diaphragm and with electric pumps & stuck float's, so I think you're chasing your tail.

Try pulling the vaccum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and turn the key on so you get fuel pressure, then see if any fuel is coming out through the vaccum port on the fuel pressure regulator.

Ok so this is a long time between drinks....

Short Solution: Swapped ecu to match wiring loom (being auto) as manual 4age is sequential injection and auto isn't.

    Long Solution:

But I finally got some time to comp test it over the weekend and the results were just shy of 200 across the board. This ruled out rings being the issue. All four of the plugs were real black, so i swapped them with copper ones.

Thinking it had to be fuel pressure reg, I changed it with a known working one and started it up. Had a constant blue smoke coming out of the exhaust, but it didn't get real bad when i gave it a little rev.I checked the oil and it was about 4cm above full on the dipstick.

So i dumped the oil, hoping this was because it was overful and filled it with some fresh stuff and filled it to about half way on the dipstick. Ran it for about 30 seconds and found the oil was almost full again.

Then i remembered someone at a meet saying that the manual ecu's are sequential injection where as the auto's aren't. The loom i was using is an auto loom, but with a manual ecu. Hoping my prob was too much fuel being dumped in as the auto loom would be firing 2x as much fuel as required based on firing orders etc.

I rang around and got an auto ecu (thanks to the guy from SSS - good bloke who was very helpful) and plugged it in to my surprise the oil level on the dipstick didn't increase. After running up to temp it was just a tad above half way.

So yeah, my problem, blacktop manual ecu on an auto loom. Which i mistakingly swapped out thinking a manual ecu was better and silly me sold off the auto ecu to recoup some $$$..

Just need a blueslip now and it'll become my daily drive.

good troubleshooting in the end mate. I have to say its the first time I've heard of a bad/incorrect/faulty ECU filling a sump with 4cm of fuel in 30secs!! Cripes.
