Manifolds are different so would be custom
Would probably be good for higher power 1j I would think
anyone actually completed this and have results?.. ive searched the net couldnt really find much..
i dont really want spam about too much effort etc.. ill work that one out i just want some evidence if they work, pull hard, arent too laggy and make good power..

yeh i realise everything wont bolt up etc, i got welders, shitload of metal and pipes, 2jz turbos etc, got lots of stuff just want some info before i move
compare sizes of housings?
i was thinking 2 t28 s14/15 turbos should go nicely on a 2j, or if you wanted sequential then you could use a GTR rear housing on one![]()
It can be done. FIL here in Perth had the setup running on his A70, needed a bit of mixing and matching from memory but def was all working well.
Search SF.com.au details are on there.
If money is the root of all evil.... then why do they pass the collection plate around in church
way more trouble than it's worth
buy a cheap single turbo suited to your desired power level & go from there.
Must.... avoid.... urge... to... upgrade... parts I haven't.... used.... yet.....
mx73 here is nsw had some installed, end result was round 240rwkw iirc compared to 210-220 for same boost 1j turdbros, overall alot of work for not much result
each to their own thou
might just give it a crack hey stuff it.. lol
Found it, l remember seeing this ages ago in a members ride.

mate this topic is so incredibly old, dead and buried. it has been done to death over the last 10 years on every toyota forum you could possibly think of. you said you did a quick search and found nothing, i did a "quick search" and got over 10,000 results?
in a nut shell, dont waste your own, or anybody elses time. if you feel compelled to waste time and money installing 20 year old fossil turbos on your 1J, no one will stop you. They may laugh however.
There are several guys in perth that have done this and got it to work with a significant amount of time and effort, and the payoff is non existant. bit of a slap in the face.
The only impressive thing I can think of is FIL ran 104mph with this mod done on an otherwise stock jza70, however I ran 105mph with a set of twin dumps so.... yeah.
This forum is all about thinking outside the square... it promotes DIY and budget engineering and I myself give props and respect to those that undertake unique enterprise, but sadly you wont be doing any of that with this potential project.

so what about 2x t28s...? they are also quite cheap and larger, steel wheeled etc..?
ill probably look into it myself later down the track.
i dunno why you would bother going to all the work of making a custom manifold, buying different turbos etc etc, unless it for the "something cool" factor, i mean making your own twin set up, seems kind of pointless to me, you can make enough power with the standard twins, if you want more get a single, all the work of adapting whatever twins for demished results, isnt too attractive too me.

id probably do something along the lines of this.

i cant see the need four a custom manifold unless you want forward facing twins. if it was me id make adaptor plates and use all the stock 2jz alloy piping and you would be lucky to spot the difference. it would probably be worth while if your stock 1jz turbos where about dead and you got very cheap mint turbos and didnt want much more power.
do you actually have any info on the sizing difference?
