But i have been offered the complete custom loom and G3 with coils and leads for less than half price of a G4 with fuse box and relayscould i just put a Q45 90mm throttle body on it and delete the FBW completely?
ok, do that then, mod the plenum to take another throttle body and some sort of PWM idle valve. From memory the G3 should be able to control the vvti also.
yup it has 4 aux ports and only 1 is being used for a boost solenoid. awesome thanks JP. what does the PWM idle valve look like? as i have a 1 1jzge vvti i could take one off if it has one
you'll need an additional 4 outputs to run the 1J iscv if it's the standard type 6 pin stepper.
Late toyota's and subaru's pre-dbw run a PWM signal controlled idle valve, these are 3 wire (power, signal, ground), they require some machining of an adapter to hook up.
just had a look at some of the threads on here and some say you can run with out it which is what i think ill try as i have no air con or anything like that if not i can run the ford one and it only has 2 pins
any chance the vh45 throttle body bolts directly onto the 2jz intake plenum?
I can tell you the non-vvti 2J throttle doesn't bolt to the vvti plenum.
Not going to question why you'd want to remove the FBW part (apart from getting rid of some of the overcontrol of the standard ECU), but could a non FBW throttle body be used with a conventional throttle cable hooked up to the original pedal, and then the throttle/sensor/motor removed from the FBW throttle & just left not connected to anything?
Or could it just be unplugged electrically and left?
Just wondering if there's any feedback to the ECU about it's operation.
Throttle will not fully open without the FBW connected as it seems the tps senses where the throttle is and then uses the gears and electrical side to open the throttle butterfly i pulled the guts out of mine and the throttle only opens bout 10-20%. Is it possible that the FBW side of thing senses how much throttle the pedal is demanding and advances the intake cam accordingly
yup i was thinking about something exactly the same but found that the lever can be turned further from the original position so i tuned it to where i wanted it and just need to modify the cable lever and im good to go. also pulled the gears out of the other side but left the 1 that picks up the tps.
