    Default A304 converter QLD

who around brisbane modify's these converters.. of the few places i've tried they won't split the converter like you can on almost any of the older holden/ford stuff cheaply..

everyone seems to want to build a new one.. $$$$..

anyone know who around here does a higher stall converter for an A304 (1JZ)

not after anything crazy.. but something around the 2800-3000 would be good..

Mate, you'd be far better off ringing MV direct, he'll tell you everything you need to know.

MV make a 2800rpm stall for the 1jz as well as shift kits. About $400 each.

yep i gave them a call and they do from 2500 to 4000 rpm converters ($395), and 3 shift kits (new valvebodys - $380).. and the bracket for the B&M shifter for $40.. the whole lot including frieght would be around a grand for a valve body, converter, and shifter bracket..

i'm pretty sure the prices are around that i called on friday and wrote them down somewhere at work..

wilbo - it's the MX83 style box, i thought i saw A304 written on the little tag/plate i might be mistaken though i'll double check , i'm a newbie to the auto boxes..

On that topic, is the valve body replacements possible to do 'oncar'?

Yes. But much easier with box out and upside down.

Ah, yes, but pulling the gearbox out for me is a much harder task, so upside down might be the go. :-)

the tag on the side of the box says 3041LE... excuse the very bad lighting and lack of anything close to a macro function on my iPhone..

is this good or bad? when i spoke to Mike at MV, i said that i would be sending down our gear.. and waiting for it to be sent back up, not exchange (as he offered with addditional core deposit) as were in no hurry...

anyone know if the valve body is interchangeable with the more common A340?

Your box (a341e) has a different first gear ratio than the a340e. Otherwise they are much the same.

right-o! no worries then thanks for clearing that up... thought i was seeing things... i didn't know there were 2 different codes..

ok so 304LE translates to a341e?

i'm assuming the a341e is what the compliance plate has stamped on it?
