I'll likely just go povo piggyback style, like an emanage blue or something. I may end up getting this done at the same time as the turbo swap if a cheap one comes up within a week.

If you're only talking 20-30hp then i'll go the 0.63 - hitting boost as high as 4k doesn't greatly interest me. Thanks for the replies gents.

Sleepercorty, can you get exhaust housings seperate for the turbo, i am after a .82 for a mates 3RZ.
havent looked into it but they are usualy pretty dear by themselves around $300. try any of your local turbo shops and they may have a secondhand housing for alot cheaper

Have no choice as the cheapo garretts dont come int gated. Don't worry though, i'll continue the povo theme by using a JJR gate, never fear

Thanks.. Rightyo, justjap only do 40 or 50 and nothing in between which is a bit odd, i'll have to measure what i can get away with once the manifold is in my hands

What are you guys opinions on a GT3071r Internally waste gated turbo which flows to 300rwkw what would the response be like compared to stock twins.

Any pro's cons of this turbo?

I see its available in a few different configurations.

    What about this.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

I put one of these on a RB25 before and it was so much fun to drive. Full boost by 3500 with the .82 rear. Made 305rwkw with a fresh rb25 and 20psi. No cams or gears. Definately need a larger wastegate. 50mm minimum. Remember the rule, "BIG BOOST-little gate, little boost-BIG GATE.

It's cheap and bb garrett which is exactly what you are looking for and it comes from Petespipes off this forum who is pretty reputable.

I would buy it, but i already bought a new 35r.

I would have bought this, did see it - but i've already ordered one of the TA3410's. If i end up unhappy with it, it should be no problem to change to any GT30 variant i think, assuming the lines are the same as well.

Manifold already dummy fitted to the car, not sure it will work out, not a great deal of room for the dump to get out.. Turbo should be here tuesday so will have a better idea then

hey bananaman, how did the single conversion go? My twins on the JZX90 gave up the ghost aswell last week. Been looking in just a single with no other mods. Pretty much just want to get the car back on the road and not worry about another set of twins doing the royal dump on me again.

Been looking in the GCG.com.au. They make a gt3271 Garret bush style internal gate turbo that the rep recons would work well on the 1jz. They can put a 10psi actuator on it aswell, (comes with a 21psi )

Been scoring over the member's ride threads and they all have the supporting mods aswell. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, looking to just replace the twins with a single, no other mods or aftermarket ecu.

Yeah i'm happy with how it has turned out. No sacrifice in drivability that i've noticed, i'd have to compare back to back again for me to tell you whether it is more laggy or not, it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but it is also very drivable off boost (manual..).

I did end up running a greddy emanage piggyback,. but that was only because i chose to upgrade my injectors at the same time for when i (inevitably) wind up the boost. I haven't altered the tune in any way bar an auto compenste jobbie where i keyed in old vs new injector values. I'm only running 7psi now so it wouldn't matter anyway with standard injectors.

Ended up using tial 38mm gate, with 7psi spring. In all gears bar 1st it holds that 7psi no problems, in first it comes on too fast and hits about 9-10psi peak, i'd probably run a nudge larger if i did it again, but no biggie.

Have a look at my members ride thread, the whole swap was detailed in there. Spent more than i'd originally hoped (duh) but that was mostly due to dump pipe fab work..
