Got an AE101 reg for about $60 when the daily went. Easy to replace
Not according to one of the documents I've found, but you never know, I might be reading it wrong.
I was hoping that might be the case, but I doubt it in thinking about it, given that the charge light turns on when you first hit the ignition.
The other thing is though, I won't really be able to test it, because if it's floating when the engine isn't spinning, then it should, under normal conditions be floating when the engine is charging the battery. Therefore, it shouldn't show anything when the engine is running.
HOWEVER - The voltage is NEVER above 12V, which tells me the alternator ain't working.
How much is a voltage reg worth? and is it worth just replacing the whole alternator instead? Or do these things go in isolation?

Went to an auto electrical shop that stocked parts for local auto sparkies. Had my usual auto electrician give me the part number before i went.
