Default TUNING: Knock Detection on a st185

    Hello Guys,

I've been looking at doing some fine turning on my wolf3d v4 plus on my st185 gt4.

I've ordered a wideband + gauge with datalogging available.

Now for knock detection. Does anyone run a knock light? or do people tune by ear / leave stock timing maps?

I've seen knock lights for < $200 and they hook upto the stock knock sensor. The problem is that I've found in the past (VR4's and EVO's) that the knock sensor fails after a few years. Have people had troubles with the knock sensor of the st185's?

Interesting and kinda frustrating topic is this
Ive been looking for the same thing, but every review i read on a knock detection unit/system seems to have equal amounts of "its awesome" and "its crap".
I cant seem to find a product which gets all round (or close to it) praise.

In the end, they always say det-cans and the human ear is best.

Yeah, the current tune that I have has been dynoed, but I don't think it was very good for cruise / offboost.

I've got a WB02 sensor on its way also.

What do you think of this product ?

Yeah, I'm going to take a punt and fit one, I'll let you know how it goes.

    Wideband should be here tomorow

    knocklite isn't here yet

been fixing the afr with the wideband and it has made a huge difference. Pulls to redline harder now. At 9psi WOT it was 13:1 afr!!!! 14psi was 12.5 made both 1 point richer now.

Enabled and configured closed loop, the cruide was 16-17 afr now 14.7 in closed loop.

Fixed a hole in the map @ 1000-2000rpm. It bucked with a lean tune. I went really rich under high load < 2000 rpm ( 11.5 ) from 17-18 amd oy made a huge difference.

Overall the wideband installation was very helpfull. The tune wasn't the greatest and now isn't too bad. I'm getting a EGT sensor and fitting the knocklite next.

I'll keep you guys posted on the knocklite install this week.
