problem with 3rd gear...

flooring the car (auto) 1st seems all well, 2nd is all good, but when it goes into 3rd (lets say at about 4500rpm after the upshift), itll drop about 300rpm (down to 4200rpm) after a small hesitation, and then start pulling back up but it feels slower then it should be. theres no real problem in 1st or 2nd that i can notice.

any help?

oh yeah, 3VZ-FE motor A541E box, its a camry.

Hi,

What happens if you go through the gears manually? That is, put it in L and then take off and then put it in 2 and then put it in D. Does it do the same?

Why I ask is to determine if there is an issue with the automatic upshifting which doesn't occur when you do it manually.

Also, when cruising at (say) 60kph and you plant the accelerator, does it kick down from D and into 2 without a problem and when you release you foot does it go back to D without any issues? These are things that we need to know to help diagnose your problem.

there are no problems with kick down, and yes it still does it when the gears are shifted manually, i also tired the useless little ECT button and that doesnt make a difference.

im trying to work some money out to get some new plugs (over 150kk), leads (original 255kk) and fuel filter (again, 255kk) done, hopefully this may help, its all that i can really think about other then maybe this battery is having issues (seems to loose fluid quite rapidly).

if anyone can help with anything else, simple suggestions, maybe i have a intake or exhaust leak or a common bad sensor?

keep O/D ON.

i just did 6 100mph pulls on the way home, 3 with the button off and 3 with it on, the 3 where O/D is off (lock out overdrive to keep it in third) the RPMS dropped. When left on, it didnt.

give it a go. i know a few ppl hve the same problems.

looks like the source of problem is eletrical.

i hope this may shed some light for help...maybe i have a shift solenoid problem or something.
