Steve and Stew,
Are they made with spherical rod ends?
If so I am interested in a set of both upper and lower adjustable control arms to use in my TA-22 Sports Sedan build up.

Rodger
Hey Guys,
I have noticed there is a bit of interest in adjustable upper (and maybe lower) control arms to suit early celicas.
both Stew (TOY77) and i have these done, originally to prevent the new diff we fitted hiting the floor, but they also improve traction.
I have pics of stews somewhere, but cant host em here....
Cheers
Steve and Stew

Steve,
i've been eyeing off buying the adjustable upper arms from Noltec, but at their current TOYMODS price of around $340 for the upper pair - i'm not THAT keen on them...
I am, however, rather keen on the idea of rose joints on the lower trailing arms, similar to what Matt's done with HYPO77... as well as a fully adjustable set all around.
Have you got any pics of the ones you've got in your cars, just for an idea of how they are done??

...... butt scratcher?!
sorry havent been on here for a while, bloody shift work![]()
ill take one off my car and post some pics up later in the week
karl, sorry mate but dont really have the time or access to the equipment anymore to much around with rose joints and different set ups, the adjustable upper arms are a relatively easy job if your competant with a welder to anyone that wants to have ago themselves, ill get some pics up anyway for you guys to have a look, as there seems to be quite a bit of interest in these.
a few people are pm ing me asking about how it affects the handling, to be honest i couldnt really tell the difference, the main purpose is to stop the tail shaft and diff hitting on the floor of the car, when a diff conversion is done, if anything it gave me slightly more traction off the line as the diff is already pre loaded as such.
o_man_ra23, thanx for the cmpliments, but in regard to the door sitting out, that pissed me off during the whole photo shoot, it was actually the door rubber not in properly as the clips were shagged, new door rubber clips and its all good now![]()

Adjustable upper and lower arms allow tuning of the rear end suspension geometry, mostly the anti-squat properties car. Especially good when combined with brackets which allow adjustment of mounting positions on the diff and body.
Steve you may have found by that by adjusting the length of the upper arms to force the clearance for the diff he may well have added more anti-squat which resulted in the new found extra traction.

Rodger
Forgive me what may be an obvious question, but is this modification commonly known as 'rose-jointing' ?
Any chance of a photo of the finish modification please?
Thanks.
nah rose jointing is something else.....
a rose joint replaces the rubber bushed joint on that suspension component. Rose joints have no "give" or flex in them, dont absorb vibrations, and are typically pretty expensive.
Here's a good little page to explain things
http://www.elephantracing.com/techto...eformation.htm
Basically it's a ball in the middle, which a donut of sorts fits around and can move about by "rolling" on this ball. Your suspension component is attached to the donut.
Here's my dodgy pic.
SOMEONE PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG

Yeah dude. I call that a rose joint. I await pics.
the idea for straight line traction is to reduce anti squat actually, more rearward weight transfer that way. the real advantage for circuit work is to cure axle tramping problems by slowing/lessening the weight transfer.
BTW awesome pics witzl
spot on though.
This is a really far out, witty and clever signature.
rose joints are great apart from the pricing. theres a place that sells all types and sizes of rose joints, cant think of the name but they advertise in the back of auto action every week. possibly if you have a mig welder you could cut the eyelets off your control arms, weld a nut on either end then just screw an appropriately sized rose joint on? i was planning on trying this with some spare control arms i have lying around
this is what i have on the front of the spoontah. looks dodge but works nice.

heres the photo sorry bout taking so long.
all it really is, is taking the standard one cutting the bar off and welding thread bar with a nut as well as pipe to make adjustable in length.
Any metal fab shop should be able to do it for you or if you handy with a welder you could have a go yourself even.

Thats pretty much it just don't forget to use some pipe that will fit over the bolt to use as a spacer on each side to stop the thing moving sideways in the original mount.Originally Posted by The Witzl
so you guys using nolathane in both ends and are you doing the long arms as well ,as a lot of race guys just take 1 smaller arm off ,does the same thing .
just a side note if you put nolathane in the upper and lower arms it will stop the rear working as it stiffens the back end up ,not good for racing thats for sure ,shit hey its good under brakes swapping ends thou at 200 clicks
Karl,
The Noltec arms are allot more than they used to beThe biggest difference with the Noltec arms is they are "On car" adjustable unlike the ones Steve has made.
Not to Say Steve's are not a good thing tho !
I only bothered with the Top arms on min so I can dial in a better angle for launch, The diff possibly not hittingthe floor is a bonus
You can see them in this pic here:

In light of this, and since i will be needing urethane bushes anyway.... i think the Noltecs will be on order soon
Thanks for the offer Steve!!
