PM me! PM me!Looking for all the help I can....
hey im right behind the idea, iv long been pushing the 1j very keen to see what ther are capable of, even on stock internals they are proving to be indestructable as long as fuel of high enough octane is kept up to the demand,
with the short stroke having less internal loading than the 2j you should be able to rev the absolute SNOT out of it safely with the basic rods and pistons upgrade
i cant see why with the right mods 500kw is very achievable .... at something like 9000rpm
i recon it could be done to budget of about 10k for everything from internals to ecu
ive discovered a few things to watch and a few real pearls of interchangable glory for building a big hp engine to if your going the whole way
ill send you a pm with ideas etc
a fool remains undescovered untill he speaks!

I'm looking at about $15k for the entire build up. But, like all great conversions im realistically looking at about $20k

I reckon you should be able to purchase 20k worth of KW for that wad.
Start another project to make the same power for half the bucks when youre done, you will enjoy the challenge. And probably be successful.
Cheap and RELIABLE 500rwkW don't go together. The amount you'll spend on driveline not to mention making sure the body can handle it and put the power down will mean that the cost of a stock engine should be the LEAST of your worries.Originally Posted by 'ol_skool_'75
$15-20k??? I don't doubt the power could be made, but reliably i am definitely doubting. The built engine should be fine, but the rest of the drivetrain i have doubts about.

ive gone back to the drawing board on this one. its not going to be a cheap build. i want Australia's quickest Celica

isn't GAS motorsport trying to get a celica into the 6's?
off topic?

going for australias quickect celica......i guess you should have a look at the gtr ta22 in readers rides first, then consider how much more money youll need to level that machine.
im sure they'll be faster celicas out there maybe??? but to see that in the build up of things will give you an idea![]()

3rd time's a charmfkn net.
Not much engine wise. I still need a new tune with the new boost controller, which should see me hit LOW 260s. I've got almost all the components needed to start building the intake manifold. Kind of debating whether to keep up the 300 on stockies mission (IE head work) or just skip to the turbo/s plans I have. I'll probably end up continuing with the head work cos I really want cams
Besides that it looks like the car might be getting a respray and I'm heading off OS soon so nothing is likely to get done untill late november.
Oh and I'm madly working on this after hours so I can get it all sprayed at once:

you cant bail on the magic 300 mission now!

ummmmm, i dont think soOriginally Posted by 'ol_skool_'75
its going to cost me around $10-$15k just to get my 1j in and running in my Ta22, and engine will be stock, try $50k to get 500rwkw in a 1st gen celica,
and to keep on topic, my goal was to have 300rwkw in my celica, but now im gonna put the engine in stock, and see how it goes, no point having more power if i cant get traction realy, and it wont be a drag car, so it wont have huge rear wheels, probably just 10" rear and 8-9" front, and suspension and brakes for the win

wtf, why put a 1j in a 22 for if its not a drag car? plenty of better options ie 3sgte you'd still get 250+rwkw that you wont be able to get to the ground and it will still turn.
cheers
