What sort of licence does one need to enter the drags? Does one need a helmet etc?

Also, a friend of mine wants to come and compete but he drives a skyline. Has there been non-toyotas competing before? Is he allowed to compete? Is he elegable for prizes etc? I rang the Toyota Nationals number but I haven't heard anything back and I need to know ASAP so I can confirm hotel booking etc.

Drag racing entry includes licence. You will need a helmet and long pants and top.

Yep, non-Toyotas enter each year but aren't eligible for trophies I believe.

They have Aus Standards approved open face helmets for about $60 out at Canberra Motorcycle Centre in Fyshwick.

60 bucks and you can buy a cannonball style open face helmet.

    Beaten marginally by Mr Paxton.
    If in doubt power out

I'll be sporting my matte black cannonball shitter helmet at the drags. Being so cheap and nasty it makes it easy to hear everything going on and not as hot as my fullface

Thick skull should negate the need for a helmet perhaps, but i'm not sure the ANDRA stewards would accept such logic

being an ANDRA event you may want to check with Dubbo City car club about what they will accept. Some common standards are no longer accepted at 400m tracks, best to check what the story will be in Dubbo.

There is a thread here somewhere about it, or you can look it up on the ANDRA website.

    I thought it was a 200m drag strip not a 400m

Correct, AS1698 helmets are no longer accepted at 1/4 mile events, AS/NZ1698 is the standard that replaced it. As you mentioned i'm not sure if that transposes to 1/8th mile also, but rather than a bunch of us hassling the Dubbo City Car Club, perhaps the event organisers (Toyota Nationals Inc) could make a consolidated approach to them to clarify, and pass on the detail to potential entrants?
