Default 3 stripped bolt holes on boss kit - advice?

    Hey everyone,
I picked up a steering wheel and boss kit online second hand and once i got it home I found that 3 of the bolt holes which are holding the wheel on are completely stripped. The bolts were still visible through the stripped threads and the previous owner has just used 3 nuts.

I'd like to do it properly if I can. Is there any way I could get new holes drilled and tapped legally?

    Its for a st184 celica.

I am not sure if the steering wheel seemed to be out slightly when lining up to the boss kit.
    I'll try get a photo

The reason I wanted to use this wheel is because the padding section of this wheel is completely covered.

As said, helicoil is prbly going to be your easiest solution.

    i.e.

    Bah too slow.

Is weld and redrill an option?

Nutserts don't ussually sit flush which may cause issues.

is it alloy or steel? i'm guessing steel,
prob easier to get another boss it for $30 than stuff around for a hour trying to fix it.
    just my 10c.

Yea i'm tempted to just get another,
I'm not too sure if its alloy or steel. Its a nardi wheel

The other option was just to redrill new holes by rotating the boss kit a few degrees

I mean't to say it was a Nardi boss kit not a wheel lol

I'm hoping the boss kit will come with a horn button as well. I'm looking for one at the moment too

I was also wondering if there was any legalities to the shape of a steering wheel? Does it have to be perfectly round? In the vic roads page it doesn't mention anything regarding that

just drill out the hole that is there (should be around m6) to the next size up and tap, shouldnt take long or be hard.

if u buy a new one ill take this one off ur hands and do just that for my daily

What gets me is that this is the only wheel to have a padded centre that i've been able to source out
I've found out that the previous owner of this wheel has drilled out the holes on the actual steering wheel to match the boss kit (they seem to be slightly out)

Is there any steering wheels I could buy which are around 330mm that have a covered centre pad?

    Yeah good advice StuC,
I'm wondering if anyone knows whether a stock subaru steering wheel would fit? They all look like the same shaft thread so I'd imagine there is no reason it wouldn't fit.
