Dot3 minimum so dot 4 is cool.

With out being there to c it its hard. all i can suggest is crack the nipple open and let it gravity bleed. Keep the resivoir topped up.
then close the nipple and try it.

if you still have probs get a mech to have a look as he will be able to tell you exactly whats wrong rather that you just replacing stuff hoping to fix it .

It's probably best to get someone to actually show you how to sort it out, otherwise you'll probably be there for days getting yourself all messy and frustrated.
